Brick veneer is a new building material for facades and interiors

Brick facade decoration remains one of the most common techniques. We can say - this is a classic of facades. But for brickwork on the foundation, it is necessary to leave an indent. A project with the required dimensions of the foundation must be calculated for this. What to do if the foundation no longer allows placing brickwork?

But on closer examination of the facade, you can see that it is all beautiful, but imitation. I propose to look at a new material, based on a thin saw cut from various types and colors of bricks. They called it - brick veneer. Why is the word veneer in the title? Because the tile is made precisely from brick cuts (veneer is a thin cut of wood):

Both panels and elements are offered separately. The tiles are glued to XPS (Extruded Polystyrene Foam) sheets through glass cloth, which is impregnated with epoxy adhesive. The tiles themselves are solid bricks cut with high quality. The saw cut is also polished. Tile thickness: 8 or 16 mm.

The price level for the panels: an average of 1500 rubles / m2. Taking into account the fact that you get both insulation and a decorative facade - not such a high price. And the installation is simple - everything can be done alone. Here is an example of installing panels on a foundation:

Tile glue is applied to the facade (it is also possible on glue-foam). Also mineral glue is applied to the panel. In places where the tiles will overlap the previous panel, polymer glue is applied (for external use). The panels have empty spaces without tiles. They are made specifically to fix the panels with a plastic dowel "fungus" to the wall.

It is better to use panels with tiles with a thickness of 16 mm for finishing the basement (a guarantee that there will be no cracks in case of possible impacts). There are also slopes (corner elements) in the line.

The interior (often one wall) can be made not boring. Of course, dust will accumulate, but this is already a question of the frequency of cleaning - are you (or your spouse) ready to spend your time on this.

I think, when looking closely at the facade, it will become clear that this is a ceramic tile glued to something. But at a distance of 2-3 meters from the house, the facade looks like brickwork.
