How I determined the humidity in the apartment using a glass and water
Optimal humidity is important for health, and I wanted to check if this figure is normal in my apartment. But I didn't have a hygrometer - a device that measures humidity accurately. I read on the Internet that you can do without it. All you need is a glass and water.
I poured about a third of the water into the glass and put it in the refrigerator. To measure humidity, it is necessary for the liquid to cool down to 2-5 degrees, so I left the glass for 3 hours.
Then I took out a glass of cold water. He immediately sweated a little.
It is important that the sun does not fall on the glass and there are no heating devices nearby, otherwise the result will be incorrect. I put it on the shelf.
The inside walls of the glass should tell about the humidity in the room after 10 minutes. If they are dry, the air in the room is too dry. If covered with the smallest droplets, then the humidity is optimal. If large drops of water flow down the glass, then the apartment is too humid.
After 10 minutes, the glass was almost dry.
I took a close-up photo of it to show the result. Only the outer walls are wet, but they do not show moisture.
The result of the experiment was in line with my expectations. It seemed to me that the humidity in the apartment is less than normal. I will humidify the air.
I really liked this method for its simplicity and accessibility. It turns out that you don't need to buy anything to find out the humidity in the apartment! I will continue to experiment with a glass in order to humidify the air in time when it becomes too dry.
