Scientists have created the smallest robot the size of a coin
Progress cannot be stopped and more and more robots are entering our daily life. Of course, in most cases, these are large robotic machines that work with large parts, but research teams create small robots as well.
Today I want to tell you about the most functional robotic baby.
Who created the smallest robot
A research group from Harvard University worked on the creation of this baby.
And they managed to create a fully functional robot that can not only move, but also run with such a speed as 14 own body lengths in one second, as well as jump and turn on location. Also move proportionate loads.
At the same time, the size of the created robot barely reaches 2.25 cm, which just corresponds to the size of such a coin as a fine. In this case, the weight of the robot was only some 0.3 grams.
Scientists reported on their development on the pages of The Daily Mail.
Scientists were inspired by nature itself and, in particular, the most common cockroach was taken as a prototype. The created robot was named HAMR-JR.
With their development, scientists have confirmed the thesis that the models created for large-sized robots are easily scalable and allow the creation of equally efficient robots, but of minimal size.
What will give ordinary people such discoveries
Of course, creating something new is great. But any development should ultimately be useful. So, as scientists stated, their mini robots are also capable of being useful.
So, for example, they (robots) can be used to diagnose complex mechanisms without dismantling and disassembling them.
Well, wait and see what the benefit will be from such robotic cockroaches.
