I took mirrors 30x30 cm and a piece of plywood. Show me what a stylish thing I made for the house, while saving a lot of money
For what purpose are mirrors placed in the house? For self-admiration, solving problems of a small space or just decoration. And whatever the intention, such a purchase is not always affordable for the money. Moreover! Finding the appropriate shape and model with the desired edging is an "ambush" much more difficult and capricious than financial costs!
Good afternoon dear friends!
But there are no unsolvable questions! And this case is no exception. Since "making" a stylish large mirror with your own hands is not such a difficult task. You just need to spend a little money, a little of your precious time and turn on your imagination. How to do cool interior element of several small mirrors, I will tell you in this material.
As a result, you will only have to find a worthy place of "deployment" for him. And given the ease of movement, these places can change periodically! Well, let's get started?
1.Materials and tools you need:
- mirrors (size and quantity depend on the desired result in the end). I took 12 pieces, measuring 30x30 cm and 2 mm thick;
- plywood sheet for the base - 120x90 cm, 8 mm thick;
- plastic or wooden corners 10x10 mm. For my format, these are 2 corners of 240 cm each;
- masking tape;
- glue for wood, glass-mirrors;
- sandpaper;
- paint;
- circular saw, screwdriver, tape measure, clamps;
- etc. tools and materials for decoration (in my case, these were brushes).
The total is 3000 rubles.
2.Preparation of the base. Cut the plywood sheet to the size you need. Everything is simple here: it corresponds to the total area of the mirrors you bought. Cutting with a circular saw will be more accurate and simple. But a hacksaw is also suitable, just spend a little more time, effort and nerves. In doing so, do not forget about safety measures!
Protective goggles against wood splinters, wood dust mask and gloves.
3.Bonding mirrors. Everything is simple here. Place the plywood on the table and start gluing the mirrors, taking into account the peculiarity of the glue. But it will be better if you apply the glue in a zigzag pattern, then you will have enough time to level the edges and expel excess air.
For example, according to the instructions for using mine, he needed time to dry out and after that he had to start "setting".
4.Frame making. Prepare 4 "strips" of the following length: 2x120 cm and 2x90 cm. Leaving 1-2 mm for fitting. Cut the ends at an angle for a perfect connection. Then glue all the guides around the perimeter and clamp each for a secure fit.
Choose the size and width of the frame for each mirror position at your discretion. But do not forget that the finish will not only play the role of fasteners, but also have a decorative effect. Take 2 strips, each 116 cm long. And cut them into 9 pieces (about 26 cm each).
Calculate the exact size by making a preliminary measurement directly on the finished mirror composition.
5.Mirror painting. What color to paint the edging is up to you! I decided to stick with white. I wanted to give my mirrored "masterpiece" softness and perfection. He protected the mirror from paint damage with masking tape and applied 2 layers of paint. After drying, he removed the tape and removed the accidentally dropped drops of paint with a toothpick.
For authenticity, I lightly sandpaper the frame to bring out the color of the wood. You don't have to repeat this trick! So that is all!
