How to feed tomatoes in June-July to get large and sweet fruits

click fraud protection

At the end of June, tomatoes come to the flowering-beginning of fruiting phase. During this period, nitrogen fertilization must be excluded so that tomato bushes do not intensively build up a powerful green mass, which negatively affects flowering and fruiting.

In the flowering phase - the beginning of fruiting, tomatoes need mainly phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, boron.

Gardeners are advised to limit themselves to organic matter on their own plot, since these are “their own” tomatoes, and “chemistry” can be bought in any grocery store.

Tomatoes grown on natural fertilizers taste very different from the store ones. If, of course, there is no organic matter, then you will have to use mineral dressings.

You can use the following dressings and solutions.

Iodine

This is an excellent top dressing for tomatoes. This element promotes active flowering and accelerated fruit set. You need to prepare the next solution.

It is necessary to measure 6-8 drops of 5% iodine on a bucket of water with a pipette. Then 0.5 liters of whey should be added there. Water the plant at the root.

For foliar feeding, you will need 30 drops of the corresponding substance, 1 liter of whey, and one tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide. The introduced components are mixed and sprayed on the sheet.

Bornaacid

As you know, boron increases the formation of flower clusters in tomatoes, promotes fruit set, which speeds up the fruiting process. It is required to prepare the following solution.

In 10 liters of water, 0.5 teaspoon of boric acid should be diluted. The latter must be pre-diluted in a little hot water.

To strengthen the solution, add half a teaspoon of iodine and stir the mixture. The resulting liquid should be sprayed over the leaves and flowers.

Mineralcomplex"Mag-Bor"

This is a complex that includes three important components for plants: magnesium, boron, calcium.

Magnesium plays an important role in the development of tomatoes, which is involved in the process of photosynthesis. If this element is not enough, then light spots or stripes appear on the lower leaves.

Then the entire plate becomes brown, brown and dries up. Magnesium deficiency affects mainly plants that grow on sandy soils.

If there is not enough calcium in the soil, then the development of hairs on the roots stops, which absorb water with nutrients from the ground. This also affects the formation of shoots, the leaves turn pale, the growth of the apical bud stops.

Fertilizer "Mag-Bor" is applied at the root or sprayed on the leaf, flower brushes. Foliar dressing is done in the morning or evening to avoid burns.

Ash

Ash is an excellent source of potassium, magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. Therefore, gardeners often use it as root dressing during flowering and fruiting.

It is enough to take 1 glass of ash and pour it into a bucket of water, let it brew for at least 2 hours, stir the solution and water the plants. Pour 1 liter of the mixture onto one tomato bush. Ash needs to be applied every week from the moment the fruits form.
