How to level the base of the floor with a large difference in height. Do-it-yourself floor screed.
When carrying out construction and repair work, it is quite often when opening wooden floors and not only, one significant problem arises.
A large difference in sub-floor heights is found. Sometimes it reaches about 10-15 cm in one room.
In this case, there can be no question of leveling the floor with a self-leveling mixture.
Such a large difference can only be corrected with a screed.
There are different technologies for installing floor screed.
Let's dwell on one of the more optimal options for leveling the subfloor with a large difference in height. It will be discussed below.
To level the differences in the base and raise the floor to the desired height, such material as expanded clay.
We will use it as one of the main components of the screed.
The process of leveling the floor begins with cleaning the base from dust and dirt.
Then around the perimeter of the room on the walls the required level of the leveling coating is beaten off.
After which already you can start waterproofing the floor.
In apartments, it is usually used for waterproofing the base dense polyethylene film, which must be overlapped and fixed with tape.
The screed may change in volume and crack during changes in humidity and temperature, so the next stage of work should be fixing the damper tape around the room.
Then onexpanded clay is poured into the film according to the markings on the walls. It should be borne in mind that on top there will be a layer of sand-cement screed of the order 5 cm.
Using a laser level expanded clay is leveled and reinforcement mesh is laid on top of the entire perimeter of the base.
The nets are fixed to each other with nylon ties.
Then on top of the resulting layer cement is crumbled in a thin layer and poured with water.
During the day, expanded clay is usually set and you can install beacons along the zero line.
Then for pouring, a cement-sand mixture is prepared and evenly distributed between the beacons.
It remains only to dry the screed well and you can start laying the topcoat.
