Summer residents of the capital region complain that there is no black currant, and other plantings have not been born, but this is not a leap year. How experts comment on the situation and why the year turned out to be a poor harvest - read on.

What the leading Russian gardener says

Gardener Andrei Tumanov believes: this year the reason for the crop failure, which was announced by Moscow gardeners, is only that they do not know how or do not want to deal with plots according to the developed rules. The coronavirus pandemic, the expert believes, did not affect the harvest - like a leap year, and temperature drops this spring and summer. He clarified that it has not yet been a year so that bad gardeners do not scold the weather.

Andrei Tumanov commented in detail on the current situation of a lean year and gave advice to Muscovites on what to do so that the harvest in the garden plots does not depend on weather conditions.

He believes that summer residents do not want to work "according to science" and are not properly watching the berries and fruits that they have planted. Some just lack experience. Tumanov also noted that there is no magic pill and powder for cherries or cherries to begin bearing fruit just like that. The main thing is proper care for them.

There are currants

The main gardener of Russia and his neighbors have a lot of black currants. Why? Bushes need to be pruned every year, and 90% of amateurs, according to Tumanov, do not do this - just as they do not treat plants for ticks and diseases.

And what about cherries and cherries?

Tumanov said that, unfortunately, over the past ten years in the Moscow region, a fungus has been observed on cherry and cherry trees. In order to prevent the fungus from infecting these trees, in the spring they must be sprayed with special preparations. Such funds also protect well from pests. Improper pruning can also be the cause of tree diseases.

How to deal with strawberries

The expert also commented on the situation with the strawberry crop failure. Gardeners say that the leaves of these plants have grown large and hide the berries from the sunlight. In this situation, Tumanov recommends not planting strawberry bushes too often and thinning them out in time. In addition, do not forget that on some plantations, plants such as strawberries and strawberries cannot grow normally for more than 4 years in a row. The large leaves that have grown this year, Tumanov advised to arrange and tie with a rope. Under the berries themselves, so that they do not lie on the soil, wire structures should be spread.
