New type of heating - Eco Ondol rods
Warm floors are the most comfortable, economical and convenient form of heating in your home. In most cases, in the underfloor heating system, a cross-linked polyethylene pipe system is used with heating by an electric or fuel boiler, circulation pumps and an anti-freeze coolant. The pipe is mounted either in the foundation slab (USHP) or in the concrete floor screed.
Another, simpler method is a heating cable in a screed. But there is a risk of damaging it (if it was drilled in the wrong place with a perforator) or burning it out (lightning strike into the power line, zero break). Also, the cable can overheat and it is susceptible to damage during installation.
There is an underfloor heating system of a closed boilerless type - a floor heating pipe with a heating cable inside. In case of burnout, the cable can be replaced through the back box. But the cost of the system is unreasonably high, despite the fact that it remains necessary to maintain it even during the warranty period. There is also a risk of overheating.
There is an alternative to these options.
In South Korea since 1981. heating rods for main heating are produced under the nameEco-Ondol (Eco Ondol). But for Russia this system is still a novelty.
Type of heating rods Eco-Ondol. Protection class IP68 (connections are filled with compound). The couplings are not heated - only the rods are heated.
Rod design. A nichrome heating element is housed in a stainless steel tube filled with magnesium oxide (MgO). This material is refractory and has heat storage properties.
Thanks to this design, the rod consumes electricity for only 25-30 minutes for two hours. And the total consumption per day is no more than 5-6 hours.
Example: for a house with an area 140 m2 the total peak power of the rods is required 15 kW. But when using automation (sequential heating of rooms), this power is reduced up to 7 kW peak load.
To connect the system, you only need a thermostat. The rods have a 50-year warranty - comparable to that of the house itself. This is due to the fact that the build quality of the equipment is very high and there is no mechanical work, i.e. wear as such is minimal.
Rated power on 1m2 - 181 W or average daily consumption for 1 hour only 21 watts! Such parameters are achieved by cycling the equipment. As mentioned above, work under load per day is no more than 5-6 hours.
An example of installation of Eco-Ondol heating rods in the USHP. Distance between rods - 25 cm (factory version). In the section - 12 pcs. Parallel connection of bars. If, for some external reason, one rod fails (punctured with a perforator), the rest of the section will continue to work.
An example of the installation of rods before pouring the screed in various rooms. The rods are not afraid of overheating if the floor is covered with furniture or floor coverings.
The cost of heating rods Eco-Ondol:
A competent and detailed analysis of the comparison of the Eco-Ondol system and other heating options was made by the specialists of the supplier company.
From the information in the file it can be seen that the cost of equipment, installation and costs for 10 years of operation of the Eco-Ondol system is much lower than that of other heating systems. And with a two-tariff electricity consumption system, the Eco-Ondol system is beyond competition.
A detailed overview of the Eco-Ondol system, screed installation and other information - in the video:
This option for installing a heating system is more suitable for self-builders than a water-heated floor. Precisely because of its economy, warranty period and simplicity. Eco-Ondol has fewer subtleties in installation and requires an initial qualification (or a little experience) with wiring. The project will be calculated by the company, you only need a plan of the premises, information on the degree of insulation of the object and the layout of the furniture.
