The washing timer on the machine has broken. How can we do without it?
I like to cooperate with grannies who at any cost want to preserve an old thing that has served decades, like this miniature washing machine, which has time timer broke.
The owner asked to do at least something so as not to call the master and avoid expensive repairs. Although, to be honest, if I was more than 90 years old, I'm not sure that I had any interest in similar problems at all. And this granny - a unique case - still aims to keep every little thing in order.
The washing machine is portable, it is not connected to the water supply, it is a summer cottage option, so to speak, but the hostess is satisfied with its simplicity and low weight. The timer is not fixed in the selected position, so it could not be turned on.
The device had to be partially disassembled in order to get to the clockwork fastened with two screws. Then the moment came to bash my head with myself timeras it became apparent that the problem was within him. It took a close inspection of all the plastic gears and springs until the cause of the malfunction was discovered.
It turned out that in the first place it was the broken teeth of one of the gears (photo 2), responsible for keeping the spring mechanism in the working position. Since the gear is unusual, with additional locks, it is not easy to restore it or separately find one for replacement.
After several attempts to fix the damaged part and a subsequent short meeting with the owner, it was decided to go by the way of simplifying the task as much as possible and do without a timer altogether.
Cut off the power wires from the timer and left it just as a decor. Wires twisted directly and the matter was almost settled. It only remained to add a little convenience in the further use of the washing machine.
In the operating mode, what has changed is that, unlike the previous one, the machine will now turn only in one direction.
The hostess, Klara Borisovna, assured that she didn't really need a timer, since she was during the wash anyway, he sits next to him and watches the process and, it happened, more than once she turned it off before the machine will stop.
However, to facilitate the task, I put her on the power cord, about 40 cm from the plug, the usual mechanicalpower button, which will allow you to start and turn off the machine in manual mode whenever you want. In general, now the machine turns on like a wall lamp, and since it buzzes decently, you definitely won't forget to turn it off.
I wanted to put a button on the body of the machine, but changed my mind, the cable seems to be more convenient and safer. Here is such a tricky way out. In the end, everyone is happy, and I also got a beer.
