What is the best foundation to do on a slope (problems of a site with a slope)
A lot of questions are raised by the construction of a house and a separate foundation on a plot with a slope. There are always holes, elevation changes on the site in some places. Minor differences can be added, but what to do when there is a large slope?
The strip view of the base of the house is ideal for such a site. There are also options: columnar, stepped strip, pile foundation.
Tape
If you chose a tape one, then it is important to know this feature: the greater the slope, the wider and higher the base. It means that you need to prepare for large spending on cement and formwork. If the slope of the site is more than 3 meters, then it is worth abandoning such a foundation. Better to use pile. It will be cheaper.
Pile foundation
Piles are screwed to different depths, but all piles are on top in a horizontal plane. Then a monolithic grillage is made and a house is erected. The pile type of foundation is chosen for small buildings, light walls.
A house made of stone, reinforced concrete blocks, bricks is not suitable. The pile tip goes deep into the ground. Even if the top layer of the earth falls, it will not affect the deformation of the building. The piles do not react to soil swelling in winter and groundwater. One drawback of such a foundation: it is impossible to make a basement.
Stepped
They rarely choose, but in vain. Plus the design: you can organize a basement, garage, cellar or other rooms at the levels. Outwardly, the foundation resembles steps.
Columnar
This version of the foundation, even on a significant slope, will be a reliable support if retaining walls are implemented. It is recommended to do it when the slope is more than 20%. Such a foundation will withstand heavy loads.
First, pits are dug (holes from 60 cm) to the ground layer. The materials for the columnar foundation are selected depending on the future mass of the building. Heavy concrete with reinforcement is often used. These pillars will last over 100 years. They also use rubble stone, reinforced concrete blocks, fired bricks, metal pipes that are filled with cement.
