A penny and effective remedy for late blight for street tomatoes. Table vinegar helped get rid of infection last season
How to save street tomatoes from late blight? This is a difficult task. This is not a greenhouse where infections are harder to get to plants. In open beds, plants are at greater risk when growing. That rains, then a cold snap, which creates favorable conditions for phytophthora.
I have street tomatoes under arches and covered with agrofibre. Spunbond shades plants from the scorching sun and protects them from a slight cold snap. I cover the top with a film, which I secure with clothespins so that the tomatoes do not rain down. This is a preventive action against late blight.
The next remedy that helped me deal with late blight on street tomatoes is acetic acid. For foliar application per liter of water, 2 tablespoons of vinegar will be required. The solution must be poured into a sprayer and all plants must be processed according to the leaf, stems, and brushes with fruits.
To water pre-moistened soil, you need to make the following mixture. For 10 liters of water, you need to take 100 ml of table vinegar. Stir the ingredients and pour over the root. It is enough to pour 0.5-1 l of solution under the plant.
If you only have vinegar essence, then the solution should be made as follows. For 8 liters of water, you need to dilute 2 tablespoons of the product and process the plants. It is also advisable to shed the soil, because the emergence of phytophthora begins from the ground, which moves to the stem, and then to the leaves and fruits.
But I want to warn you that too frequent watering with vinegar solution can quickly acidify the soil. Therefore, I use it when other biological agents in the form of Fitosporin do not help.
I use vinegar no more than 2-3 times per season during the period of fruit filling.
