The July heat made the Cucumbers wither and turn yellow. I tell you how to save the Harvest without spending a penny

Little was left before the cucumber harvest, but the heat of the middle of summer hit the site. This year, while checking the beds, I again found that the cucumbers became more stunted, turn yellow... But fortunately, if you do not hesitate, this problem can be guaranteed to be solved, to save the vegetables!

And to begin with, it is worth saying a few words about the root system of the culture. It lies shallow and naturally looks for moisture there. So the ground should be wet to a depth of 11-13 cm.

If the summer is not hot, watering 2-3 times a week for cucumbers is enough for this with a consumption of 6-8 liters per 1 square meter during flowering and crop formation. But in the July heat, cucumbers need to be watered daily, sometimes even in the morning and evening.

Otherwise, the roots literally begin to stretch upward in search of life-giving moisture and naturally, they dry up there and this weakens the plant, destroys it. Therefore, the first thing in the heat is to provide the cucumbers with water.

But what if there is no way to spend the hottest days on the site in the literal sense? Many, I am sure, have so much to do except to work in the beds twice a day!

My personally tried and tested way of rescue is in ordinary plastic bottles. It is better to take larger containers - about 5 liters in volume.

Then, you need to heat the needle and make many holes from the bottom in the walls. I want to note that the holes should not be large, otherwise nothing will work - the water from the bottles will leave instantly.

Then the bottles need to be dug shallowly near the cucumbers so that the holes are in the ground. And then, you just need to fill them with water. And then - the matter of physics!

Thanks to gravity, water seeps through the holes, but the moistened soil closes the holes and this almost automatic watering stops. And when the soil dries up again, water starts to flow out again and everything repeats.

In addition, I advise you to shade the cucumbers by stretching over them a special mesh non-woven fabric with many slots. It is a very inexpensive material.

It perfectly reflects ultraviolet light, but at the same time it does not deprive cucumbers of the scattered light necessary for the processes of photosynthesis and ripening of the crop.

So it turns out that in order to save cucumbers in the heat, only two conditions need to be observed - water them abundantly and shade them. If desired, you can also mulch the soil - this slightly lowers the temperature of the soil and prevents the formation of a hard crust on its surface.
