What is the difference between decorative varieties of viburnum and viburnum ordinary and why it is necessary to plant a viburnum bush near the house

In my garden, there are viburnum bushes purchased from the nursery. These are the varieties Buldenezh and Roseum, whose flowering at the end of May resembles an unexpected “snowfall from snow balls”. But together with Buldenezh, the common viburnum, dug out in the forest, blooms beautifully at the same time. Maintenance of all bushes is minimal. Garden varieties are often bred by breeders for the sake of lush beauty, and not for the sake of berries. Artificially bred varieties either do not have berries at all, or they are inedible.

There is no smell in decorative varieties of viburnum, which is offset by marvelous double flowers. Buldenezh and Roseum have no smell and no berries. And on the contrary, the common viburnum has a wonderful slightly sweet aroma, and in the fall it is decorated with flaming brushes of berries. The benefits of the common viburnum are extraordinary. All its parts, that is, leaves, flowers, seeds, berries and even bark, are used not only in folk medicine, but also in pharmacology:

· An infusion of berries gargle with sore throat;

· Infusion of flowers has antipyretic effect, helps with asthma;

· Infusion of bark is used as a prophylactic and therapeutic agent for skin diseases;

· Viburnum berries are included in the mixture for the treatment of corns, acne, rashes, burns and ulcers;

With berry tincture treat eczema, furunculosis, carbuncles:

· Infusion of bark is used for washing wounds;

The diuretic properties of viburnum berries help with hypertension to gently reduce blood pressure;

· Viburnum berries help in the treatment of oncology.

Unfortunately, the usefulness and taste of viburnum were appreciated by all kinds of bugs, mites, insects. If you do not process the shrub in the spring immediately after the leaves appear, then in a short time only veins will remain from the leaves. Viburnum is a beautiful plant, unpretentious and unpretentious, undemanding to the ground and care. If you treat it with chemicals a couple of times over the summer from bugs and leaf beetle caterpillars, then the gardener will be able to admire the splendor of the crown, enjoy the beauty of flowers and appreciate the bitter taste of flaming autumn berries.

Fortunately, many low-toxic agents exist to control pests that actively eat viburnum leaves, its stems, flowers and bark. For example, I use spraying with Iskra in ampoules immediately after the leaves appear. It is necessary to spray in dry weather, which will last at least another day or two after processing. One treatment is usually enough for the whole summer.

I pick the berries after the first frost and put them in portions in the freezer to add them to compotes and pies in winter.

Viburnum care:

I plant viburnum in a prepared pit measuring 50x50x50 cm. in a slightly shaded area. It produces fewer flowers outdoors. It is best to plant near a fence or a well.

· I fill the planting hole with a mixture of earth, peat and humus, add a little ash;

· In the spring, I remove last year's leaves, mulch the soil under the bushes with humus and peat, water it;

· After the appearance of leaves, but before flowering, in dry weather, I treat with Spark;

· In the summer after flowering I add a little superphosphate (50g). Kalina loves water, so I water it in dry weather;

· In the fall I examine the bushes. Leaves affected by insects, dry branches are removed and burned.

· Cut off bushes only from the age of seven.

According to folk signs, viburnum plays the role of a talisman in the garden from everything bad. The ancient Slavs asked the spirit of the viburnum for family happiness and many children. The viburnum bush, planted near the house, according to legends, will help to keep harmony and love in a young family. Therefore, in your house it is imperative to plant viburnum near the fence "for luck".
