Cabbage not tied? ⚡ I'll tell you how to feed large heads of cabbage for the rapid growth. I'm reporting from my friend's garden
Fiery fireworks, comrades vegetable growers!
Do you want to grow enviable forks, but see liquid cabbage leaves in the garden? It was with this problem that my friend, Tatiana, faced. I had a similar situation a couple of years ago, so I know exactly how to help cabbage. I have already suggested to Tanya - and now I will write for you.
From the author: I know that there are many hardworking summer residents among my subscribers. Their gardens are sterile, like an operating room. But Tatiana is not among them: she is not a fan of regular weeding and slender rows. Therefore, let the state of her beds in the photo do not surprise you)
So, having come to visit a friend, I saw this. The snapshot conveys all the difficulty of the situation:
And this is, for a minute, early-medium varieties! Planted on May 12 by seedlings.
An important nuance
To begin with, it is worth mentioning that it is very rare that bad seeds become the reason for the reluctance of white cabbage to tie forks. Planting material of poor quality and exceeding the shelf life do not leave a choice: a worthy head of cabbage will not grow out of the "devil".
It remains to tie a knot for memory. For the next year, choose seeds from a responsible producer that has proven itself well in practice. You can interview the more successful cabbage neighbors, summer residents and gardener relatives, who are more successful in business.
But this is not Tatyana's case. She plants the seeds of one firm every year. There were no misfires before. And this summer, like mine a couple of years ago, something went wrong. And I, since I have already encountered and coped with the situation, I can say that.
So why the cabbage is not tied up and what to do with the annoying situation
There are thousands of possible causes on the Internet: slugs, temperature, heat, cold, shade, sun, and more. But I, comrades, am sure that the root of the problem must be sought in the ground.
Cabbage hates sour soil. In such a land, it doesn't just slow down growth. There is a great risk that instead of heads of cabbage "horns and legs" will turn out. After all, cabbage sitting on acidic soil simply cannot properly absorb nutrients and develop properly.
Once I already solved the problem in this way:
The first is the use of wood ash. I am sure that this is the best deoxidizer for any soil and no one will convince me otherwise) In addition, it also contains minerals.
But there is a subtlety. If you just sprinkle the bed with ash, then you will have to wait for a tangible effect... pretty long. We need it instant.
So I make a two-day infusion of wood ash: 1 typical glass per 10L bucket. I spill the bed generously so that the process of soil deoxidation begins around the roots of the cabbage. This is essential for an instant effect.
The second shot is a control one. A week after feeding with ash, I dilute calcium nitrate. The result is obvious! Cabbage comes to its senses and grows. I hope my proven strategy will help Tatyana and all of her comrades in cabbage misfortune.
