How to accelerate the fruiting of young Trees. A really working method
Every gardener dreams of an early harvest from young trees. Of course, most often the fruiting period depends on the varietal characteristics.
But not everyone wants to wait from 6 to 8 years for young trees to bear fruit. There are several really working methods that help speed up the timing of the harvest.
Bending branches
Correct crown formation is essential for the start of fruiting. If the branch is located vertically, then all the forces that the tree directs go to growth and development.
To make a branch fruitful, you should give it a horizontal position. For this purpose, I fold back the young branches, trying to make them parallel to the ground. This should be done in early spring.
For implementation, you can use clothespins, rope or small weights. The easiest way is to take a rope and tie one end to a branch and the other to a trunk or peg driven into the ground. If two branches are close to each other, they can be twisted together.
It is very important to monitor the place of the fold, and in time to prevent the appearance of cracks. Also, all actions should be performed until the moment they are young, flexible, and not yet stiff.
Bark banding
This method is considered extreme. Its essence lies in the fact that a thin layer of bark 1 cm wide is removed at the base of the branch. the open surface is immediately covered with garden var.
As a result, the flow of nutrients to the roots decreases, and the branch begins to bear fruit. Such operations should be carried out in early May. During this period, the bark can be easily separated from the wood.
This method is not suitable for very young plums, apples, pears, cherries and cherries. Wounds on such seedlings heal over a long period of time, and the young tree may not survive the operation.
Applying a tourniquet or constriction
The principle of this method is similar to the previous one. All the juices that must go to the roots remain in the branch, and it receives a lot of nutrients, which speeds up fruiting. Low carbon efflux leads to the formation of flower buds.
This method is considered even more extreme, and is used for trees from 3 to 5 years old.
I pull half of the branches with wire or a rope and squeeze a little. To avoid damaging the fabric, place several layers of burlap or other fabric under the wire.
In the summer, the branch begins to thicken and the pressure increases. After a month or a half, I remove the banner. If this is not done, then the wire grows into the tree and it is difficult to remove it.
When stimulating fruiting, one should take into account the fact that the young tree will give all its strength to the formation and ripening of fruits. The growth and development of the crown and root system will slow down significantly.
