Found a use for old toys and leftover building materials: how we equipped the play area in the country
The need to organize a children's corner in the country arose in our family with the appearance of 2 twin babies. We spend almost 6 months a year outside the city. During this time, it was not easy to entertain the fidgets and distract them from “helping” with the housework. The water-filled beds and paths, the painted walls of the dacha and the trampled flower beds annoyed, and the children wandered around for most of the day.
Site selection and preparation
To organize a children's corner, we chose a part of the garden, fenced off from 2 sides with a blank fence. So we are sure that the children will not run away through the open gate, they are not visible from the street, and the place is protected from wind and drafts.
The third side is fenced off by a large swing with a soft seat. This is a place for parents to sleep or rest during the day.
Site preparation began with the removal of 10 cm of the topsoil. Thick polyethylene was laid to protect against weeds. The entire territory was covered with a layer of sand left over from the construction and repair of the summer cottage.
The site was fenced with a decorative fence for flower beds. A young cherry tree was specially left in the center. Children take care of him: watering, removing weeds, picking berries and are very proud of their harvest.
The space in front of the swing (about 4 square meters) was laid with paving slabs. Here kids play "classics" and hit the ball. In hot weather, we set up a small inflatable pool here.
Toys
The playground was filled with toys that had no place in the house. Large cars, balls, a drawing board, a slide became uninteresting to children and took up space. There was a place for everything on the site!
The toys were placed in a large mesh container. Sand and rainwater do not linger.
Own flower bed
A little away from the playground along the fence, we organized a children's flower bed. With the help of slate buried in the ground, the level was raised, creating a high bed. So it is convenient for children to take care of flowers, and the earth does not pour over the sides and does not mix with the sand on the site.
To organize a children's play area, we used construction materials (polyethylene, sand, slate, paving slabs) left over from the construction of the summer cottage. I didn't have to spend money on toys either. All our holidays and family gatherings take place here. Garlands with bulbs, fixed on the cherry tree and around the fence, create a magical atmosphere in the evening, which is suitable not only for children's pranks, but also for romantic dates with your husband.
