My favorite dressing for Cucumbers, I give it right during fruiting
It becomes very annoying when a small number of ovaries appear on the excellent-looking cucumber tops, and even the grown fruits do not look very presentable.
But this situation, most often, indicates a lack of essential nutrients in the soil. Of course, I would not advise anyone to feed the cucumbers during the fruiting period with any industrial chemical fertilizers. Then it will be scary to eat them. But environmentally friendly feeding at this time will come in handy.
I carry out such feeding in three stages, repeating them 3-4 times during the entire fruiting period of the culture. First, I feed the cucumbers with an ash solution, after a week - with yeast, and after another week - with fermented herbal infusion. Moreover, it is not worth mixing such dressings with other fertilizers and with each other.
Each stage has its own view:
1. Potash dressing
During fruiting, cucumbers require a large amount of potassium. And the most affordable and safe source is wood ash.
To make the ash solution, I take a glass of ash (sifted) and 10 liters of water. I insist for two hours and, constantly stirring, pour about a liter of top dressing under each plant.
This procedure is recommended only in warm weather and after normal watering. Potassium promotes the formation of new ovaries and improves the quality of the fruit. The cucumbers will not show bitterness, signs of deformation and internal voids.
2. Yeast feeding
Yeast is a natural stimulant of plant growth, it strengthens its root system, favors the appearance of ovaries, shortens the period of fruit ripening and, accordingly, significantly increase productivity.
For yeast feeding, I first prepare a mash based on 100 g of yeast, half a glass of sugar and 5 liters of warm water. I give her 2-3 hours to ferment, dilute with water 1/5 and pour one liter of this solution on the damp ground under each plant.
3. Fermented green dressing
Within a few days after applying such a fertilizer, you will notice the appearance of a huge number of new flowers and ovaries on cucumbers.
It is prepared simply: any freshly cut juicy grass must be placed in a dark plastic bag, tie tightly and leave in the sun for two days, during which the process will take place fermentation.
Then take a bucket and fill it half with the green grass and half with warm water. And after one and a half to two hours, pour the resulting solution over the cucumbers (1.5 liters per plant).
In principle, you can use any herb to prepare a green infusion, but I prefer to add comfrey blooming near my fence.
As a result of such regular feeding, my cucumbers usually bear fruit continuously and abundantly for several months.
