Installation of flexible shingles on an arbolite house
The choice of roofing material for the roof of a house is often not only based on the price of the material. The appearance of the roof, durability, ease of installation also affects. If you do not take into account the economy options like slate, profiled sheet, then the metal tile wins in price. But loses to shingles in appearance. And for some, noise during rain is critical (especially in attics).
A friend shared photos of construction, or rather a part of his construction - what the installation of a roofing from flexible tiles looks like:
The house is located in a picturesque forest near Krasnoyarsk.
Probably, the plots were initially clean, but for a long time they were without owners and were overgrown with young pine. On neighboring plots next to mine - the same situation. Fields tend to be overgrown with forest.
Commencement of installation of the underlay carpet.
Wood concrete house, two-story, with a total area of 260 m2, 6 rooms. Strip foundation. Cold attic. Floor slabs on the foundations and floor slabs. Underfloor heating and radiators are planned. The owner also plans to have heating from electricity at the night rate. A heat storage tank with a volume of 2 m3 will be installed.
So, the installation process:
Anderep Prof underlay carpet from TechnoNIKOL was selected as the most reliable option, excluding even theoretically possible leaks. The rolls are simply rolled out and punched with brushed nails to the OSB sheets of the roof. Installation, of course, like any roof - from the bottom up.
Chosen Salsa collection, Lychee color. Single layer, but with improved bitumen composition. 30 year warranty. More details here
Two shades of brown basalt chips and the edge of a dark gray strip give a 3D imitation. I have flexible shingles on the woodshed of a similar shape and color. The drawing looks especially beautiful in light rain (the effect of a wet stone). This will be noticeable on low-rise buildings and homes with mansard roofs.
Installation - also only with brushed galvanized nails. There are practically no scraps left on such forms of the roof. Even on hip roofs, there are very few of them. Unlike metal tiles: when mounted on a hip roof, up to 30% of the material is cut off there.
The shingles have not yet settled down, have not baked into a flat carpet. But after several days of heat and clear weather, the tiles are sintered together into a single surface, forming a reliable coating - nothing will tear off by the wind.
Ridge part.
There is an exit to the roof from the attic through the window. Glass allows for natural light in the attic. It is unlikely that a window is needed, but you can install it for peace of mind. In which case, there is no need to install a high ladder or scaffolding to access the roof. For example, for laying a stove or fireplace chimney, installing an antenna.
