Does it make sense to make building blocks yourself? I checked it myself
Advertisements with offers for the sale of vibrating machines for the manufacture of building blocks are very frequent on the Internet:
Or, as they are also called - for the production of cinder blocks. Advertising is this: buy, make blocks and build, saving on wall building materials.
Or here's another technology - the construction of walls using the TISE technology. Also with the acquisition of the form:
Are there any savings in using these techniques and where are they appropriate? In theory, the numbers look like this:
1 bag of cement is 5 incomplete buckets of cement. 1 bucket - 60 rubles. 1 bucket of sand - 10 rubles. (10 m3 - 10,000 rubles. we have). The concrete mixer contains 4 buckets (0.04 m3). Those. one batch - 100 rubles. It turns out, 1 m3 of self-weight concrete 2500 RUB Cost of purchased PShchS-blocks: 1875 rub. / 1m3 or cheaper (no delivery).
More detailed calculations are given in the article: Country house with the cost of walls for the price of firewood. Comparison with block walls
The more blocks you buy at a time, the less cost is added to 1m3 (in the volume of a truck). Currently, it is not profitable to make blocks yourself, or it will be with minimal savings.
But for the fence, I still made the blocks myself, with my own hands. And not molded in a machine, but cast in molds. He did this to obtain exclusive products using the Washed Concrete technology. Such blocks cost 8-10 times more and here I really saved:
Type of blocks, the process of their manufacture, filling and the final view of the fence. The view of the fence can be seen in the video:
The cost of the block, taking into account gasoline for trips to the site - RUB 47 / pcs. For today, probably, there will already be more than 50 rubles / piece. Such a block from the manufacturer - RUB 400 In my case, the savings are solid, because I made exclusive products myself. Even in spite of these savings, if you ask me: would I repeat such a volume of blocks for the fence? My answer is no.
Details in the article: How much do I save by self-pouring blocks?
If you make ordinary blocks, there are dozens of offers in almost every city, then you will lose the price (at a loss), waste your energy and time. And the quality of concrete will float from batch to batch.
Manufacturers buy cement at a wholesale price, import sand and other inert bulk materials by their own transport, and produce it on semi-automatic machines. Minimum manual labor. Hence the cost of their products.
Many walls of the house are cast in one piece, from wood concrete, expanded clay concrete, polystyrene concrete. Here, too, there will be a continuous delay in construction in time without any significant savings.
It makes sense to make blocks if you need exclusive decorative materials that are not on sale, but you really want to stand out with them. Or another option: if your construction site is located in a remote village hundreds of kilometers from the block producers. You don't want to build from a tree or a frame, you want a garage from blocks, for example. There is free sand, own transport capable of bringing it. Bring in cement and make blocks in the evenings and in your free time on a mini-machine. And then, the savings will be on the delivery of materials: from 2000 rub / hour truck or how much you agree for the flight.
The conclusion is this: in most cases, you will not receive savings in the cost of blocks made by yourself. And if you manage to save, then a symbolic amount, to the detriment of your time and even the quality of the blocks.
