Delicious homemade kvass according to my grandmother's recipe.
Kvass is just an irreplaceable drink in the summer heat and I am sure that very, very many will agree with me.
My grandmother says that during her youth they sold such delicious kvass that the current one does not even closely resemble it.
But, fortunately, she shared with me a recipe for making homemade kvass, which is not much different from the drink of Soviet times.
Since then, I very rarely buy kvass, but prefer to make it myself. Everyone at home is just delighted with such a delicious, and most importantly healthy drink. Therefore, I would really like to share with you my grandmother's recipe.
To make kvass at home, not so many products are required, besides, every housewife has them in the kitchen.
Kvass preparation method:
For a 3-liter jar, you will need 1 bag of dry yeast, 3 slices of bread and 200 g of sugar.
Pour yeast into an incomplete jar of warm water. Pieces of bread, you can take either black or white bread, dry in the oven and cut into cubes, which should also be sent to a jar.
Pour sugar into a frying pan and melt it until a liquid brown state, stirring constantly so that it does not burn.
Then pour the melted sugar into a jar in a thin stream.
When all the necessary ingredients have been added, it is worth stirring the solution and, closing the jar with a loose plastic lid or gauze, put it in a warm place for a day.
The fermentation process should begin in the drink.
Then the kvass is poured into plastic bottles, while adding a few raisins to each. After chilling the drink, you can enjoy a wonderful refreshing homemade kvass!
I usually make two cans to fully provide my family with delicious kvass on hot summer days.
