A big harvest of Apples will be next summer, if you use my Tips
How to get a luxurious harvest from the apple orchard for the next year? Do you really need to drive rusty nails into the trunk? With confidence based on twenty years of experience in owning such a garden, I answer - no!
Taking care of apple trees is a whole science. But in the fall, everyone who has these amazing trees can follow the advice that I personally tried so that next summer you just don't know what to do with so many apples!
In late summer and early autumn, apple trees need 2 generous watering based on their age:
1-5 years old - 50 liters;
6-10 years old - 100 liters;
Over 15 years old - 150 liters.
Thus, the soil with the root system will be soaked to a depth of at least 1 m, which will strengthen the plant and protect the roots from freezing with the onset of severe cold weather.
In autumn, apple trees need potash and phosphorus fertilizers, nitrogen fertilizers are contraindicated, since they stimulate the growth of shoots. To prepare the solution, you need to mix 1 tbsp. l. any potash fertilizer and 2 tbsp. l. superphosphate in 10 liters of water.
This is enough for 1 sq. m. of the trunk circle of trees under 10 years old and 0.5 sq. m. - over 10 years old. I recommend combining this with the second water-charging irrigation, carried out 4 weeks after the first. Naturally, water should be taken from its rate, and not added yet.
To remove wintering pests from the apple tree, you just need to walk along the trunks and branches with a wooden or plastic scraper, removing moss, lichens, and old peeled bark.
And below on the ground, an unnecessary blanket or film should be spread. If, during cleaning, they accidentally damaged the bark to the living tissues of the apple tree, the damage is covered with garden var.
Powdery mildew is also worth mentioning. Autumn spraying of the trunk with a solution of urea - 0.5 kg per 10 liters of water is incredibly effective against it.
This treatment should be performed after the previous step and after making sure that the damage that has arisen has healed on the apple tree.
Apple trees also often bear poor fruit due to the fact that they burn out the winter sun. Is it possible! This requires whitewashing from the base of the trunk to the lower skeletal branches, or even slightly higher.
You can buy a ready-made composition in a store or prepare it yourself from 3 kg of lime, 0.5 kg of copper sulfate and 200 g of wood glue, diluted in 10 liters of water.
These are all the activities that, in fact, lay the foundations of well-being for the next year of apple trees in the garden and, naturally, ensure good fruiting!
