5 Signs of a Well-Kept Garden That Make Your Site Look Ideal
When my husband and I decided to buy a summer cottage, we immediately began to think over what its design would be. None of us wanted continuous vegetable beds around the house.
I wanted something beautiful, pleasant to relax. Having looked at some sites of my friends, and having studied a lot of videos on the Internet, I realized that for me they are the signs of an exemplary garden.
1. Well-groomed flower beds
To decorate the flower beds in our summer cottage, I chose flowers that not only harmoniously combine, but also bloom, replacing each other, throughout the warm season.
And so that the flower beds always look neat and beautiful, I try very hard not to let them run.
After all, even the most gorgeous flower arrangement can lose its appearance due to withering or diseased leaves and dried buds.
2. Lawn in open areas
It seems to me that not a single suburban area can look well-groomed if grass and weeds grow freely in its open spaces.
Therefore, we monitor our lawn, periodically mow and water it. Of course, this requires an investment of a sufficient amount of effort, but the result is worth it.
3. Neat green spaces
Of course, each owner decides for himself what kind of trees and shrubs to plant on his site. But all of them should have a healthy, aesthetic appearance and formed crowns (not necessarily round or square).
If some shrubs, especially fruit ones, need fences or supports, then it is better to perform them in the same style.
Indeed, for example, currant bushes, fenced with a variety of improvised means, can spoil the look of any garden.
4. Paths and decorative elements
Any suburban area will not look well-groomed without comfortable, well-laid paths, equipped with borders and drainage grooves.
And the presence of various decorative elements in the garden will only add to its attractiveness. It can be solar-powered lanterns, and various figurines, and flower arrangements in pots.
Only such decor should be made in the same style, so as not to evoke the feeling of the warehouse of an “everything for home and garden” store.
5. Recreation areas
Since my husband and I wanted to have a rest at the dacha, we planned in advance the location of a spacious gazebo, a cozy hammock and a garden swing.
I believe that such attributes of a comfortable pastime should also fit into the overall composition of the site and additionally decorate it.
Although I nevertheless placed four small vegetable beds and several fruit trees and bushes on my site, it seems to me that they did not spoil the general view of the garden.
And the entire territory of the site turned out, as planned, very picturesque and harmonious. My husband and I are happy, and our friends and neighbors praise us.
