5G myths, misconceptions and facts

Hello dear guests and subscribers of my channel. Today I want to talk to you about the deployment of the new 5G network and the information noise that has risen around this entire process. And at the same time to disassemble the most common myths and misconceptions and take a sober look at all this.

What is 5G

The development of mobile Internet technologies does not stand still, and it is quite logical to replace the old ones with new ones. This is how 5G technology is a logical continuation of development and is designed to replace 4G technology that is no longer able to cope with loads and increased demands.

The operating frequency range for the new network will be 600 MHz and more. The so-called millimeter range between 30 GHz and 300 GHz will also be involved.

So the big resonance among the world community was caused by the fact that the very architecture of the networks is very different from the "old" 4G networks.

We are already used to the fact that stationary towers are located at high altitudes at an average distance of 1 km.

Since the 5G base is quite compact, the transmitters can be literally placed in any convenient place: stops, benches, lighting lamps, etc. The first myth is connected with this fact.

The myth of strong electromagnetic radiation

So, the first misconception is that the proximity of transmitters to people will adversely affect human health due to electromagnetic radiation.

In principle, it is true, but only the specificity of the new technology is such that the towers for it should be located from each other at a distance of 100 to 200 meters, which means that in powerful transmitters, it is simple it makes no sense.

Radiation from new installations will strictly comply with all sanitary standards and requirements, which means there is no point in worrying about this.

The myth of spreading viruses with 5G towers

Another extremely persistent myth-fallacy is the fact that with the help of such attitudes, interested faces simply kill immunity and literally infect others around them (in particular, the COVID 19).

So this myth does not withstand even superficial criticism. The transmission of biologically active substances by means of electromagnetic waves is simply impossible.

The opinion that 5G causes cancer

In this aspect, everything is not so simple and it would be rash to assert that this is a myth and not true. After all, there are still no full-fledged and comprehensive studies on the harmfulness or safety of the radiation of the 4G system.

There is only indirect evidence that malignant brain tumors occur more often on the side of the head where the smartphone is more often applied.

And for objective reasons, 5G research has simply not been carried out yet.

The myth that the 5G systemwill drain your cell phone faster

The origins of this myth are at the very beginning of the introduction of the 4G system, when the modules in the phone were simply huge, and there were so few towers that the constant search for them literally consumed the battery charge.

Now the tested modules of the new generation are very small in size and their power consumption is minimized, and the dense arrangement of transmitting devices allows spending a minimum of energy on their search. So the next generation network will not be the reason for the fast discharge of the smartphone.

5G repeaters are detrimental to animals

It is difficult to disagree with this argument, since there have already been two precedents.

In Holland, during test runs of installations, all living starlings died within a radius of 400 meters. In addition, a strange effect of radiation on cows was noted. During the tests, the cows showed great anxiety and the towers had to be turned off.

Of course, these two incidents are not a reason to curtail all work on 5G, but you need to think carefully about ensuring the safety of people and animals.
