Incorrect connection
There is such a problem, this is when the input is connected from below, and not from above, you say, no one will connect like that, but no, such an error occurs. The most interesting thing here is that with such a connection, the RCD will work until you turn on the "Test" button, which should simulate the leakage current.
It is recommended to test the device according to the passport once a month, and when connecting it it is recommended to press it to check.
So, with incorrect connection and pressing the test, there is a high probability that the RCD will fail, a small smoke with a characteristic smell will go. I must say right away that this problem is more likely to relate to an electronic RCD

With the correct connection, the power supply to the device comes from the top, and the protected line is connected to the lower terminals.
Now you can safely test with the "test" button, checking the efficiency of the differential protection.
