How to build a porch of a house yourself, what nuances you need to take into account and what technologies are important to follow
After finishing the construction of the box at the house, I started building the porch. Due to the fact that my project provided for the presence of a basement floor, the structure turned out to be monolithic and rather high.
The porch has a small room inside, which I use for storing garden and construction tools.
The process of building a porch has several stages:
- Initially, I made a markup, thanks to which I calculated the step of each step, calculated the size of the upper platform, etc.
- The next step was the excavation work, which I carried out on my own using a shovel.
- Since the porch is a powerful monolithic structure, I had to prepare a reinforced concrete base for it.
- In the dug pit, I covered the bottom with a layer of sand and gravel (medium fractions), thereby creating a pillow. I laid the reinforcement, tying it together and fixing it by welding.
- After pouring concrete for the porch foundation and hardening it, I proceeded to build the formwork, for which I used plywood and boards.
- In each cavity, I laid the reinforcement and filled it with cement mortar, with the addition of medium-fraction crushed stone.
- It took about a week for the concrete mixture to harden, after which I dismantled the formwork.
To prevent the porch from moving away from the foundation of the house during operation, I carried out its additional fixation even during the construction of the formwork, connecting the reinforcement with the plinth.
In the place where my technical room was formed, I reinforced the structure with a channel in order to prevent collapse in the future due to heavy physical exertion.
