How to correctly connect a street spotlight
Hello dear subscribers and guests of my channel. Today I want to tell you about how to most competently connect a street floodlight so that it works as efficiently as possible with minimal power consumption. So, let's begin.
Purchase of the necessary components
So, in order to competently perform our connection with you, you will need to purchase everything you need, namely:
- Directly the street spotlight itself.
- Motion and light sensor.
- Three-core wire.
- Two-button switch.
This is what we need to purchase in order to properly connect the street light. But besides this, you also need a minimum set of tools.
- Pliers.
- Stripping knife.
- Electrical tape or heat shrink tubing.
- Sleeves and crimping pliers (if you are an opponent of twists and even perform an ultra-reliable wire connection in lighting) or Wago terminal blocks, which are ideal for lighting.
And of course an hour of free time.

So, we will connect a street floodlight using this scheme:
You have probably already noticed that there is a two-button switch in the circuit and two phases go from it to one spotlight at once.
This was done for a reason, but to provide for the possibility of turning on the spotlight not through a motion and light sensor. And directly and on an ongoing basis.
Let's say you are waiting for guests and you need to specially highlight the adjoining area. To do this, simply turn on the desired button on the switch and the spotlight is on constantly.
This is how the spotlight will work
The main condition for the good functioning of the floodlight is quality components. For example, I chose my spotlight through Yandex.market. I bought a high-quality and inexpensive copy.
This is how a competent connection looks like. Of course, you can simplify the circuit as much as possible and remove both the double switch and the motion and light sensor. But in this case, you will have to independently control the switching on and off of the lighting, and this is not always convenient.
