Houses with a Tatar accent: blind gates and windows with blooming geraniums
You say, there are no houses with an accent? How it happens! It is worth remembering the shots from the movie "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka": whitewashed walls, hipped roofs, a fence woven from willow. So Tatar villages are distinguished by their elegant facades of the walls, the special charm of good quality and ingenuous comfort.
The national character of Tatar houses is recognizable in the abundance of floral ornamentation on the platbands and in the bright mix of colors of the facades.
In this riot of curlicues on the platbands, you will not see firebirds or a cockerel. It was not accepted to portray animals among Muslims. And although the majority of residents lead a secular lifestyle, the traditions of their grandfathers have been preserved.
The house itself is usually open to admiration. Warmly welcomes guests with many windows, trustingly open to the world. Geranium blooms magnificently on the windowsills - the favorite flower of the villagers.
But the courtyard, the holy of holies, is tightly closed by high gates.
But even in this strict frame of the gate there is an element of creativity: up close you can see the silhouettes of a tulip cup. This is a national flower, which Tatars associate with rebirth, awakening of spring.
Overhead decorations on the gates are also part of the Tatar culture. The village has always been proud of its richly decorated gates and tried to outstrip each other. The gate has been maintained and renewed throughout life.
