New graphene-based battery will be able to charge in 15 seconds

Graphene is increasingly being introduced into various fields of electronics and energy, and it is increasingly being used in the production of rechargeable batteries.

So company representatives Skeleton Technologies jointly with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) issued a joint statement that they are working on a completely new graphene battery SuperBattery, which can be charged in literally 15 seconds.

What is SuperBattery

The new type of battery will use the patented Curved Graphene carbon material, which will charge the battery in just 15 seconds (at a temperature of 240 degrees Celsius) and the number of discharge-charge cycles will be hundreds of thousands of times.

In essence, this is a new version of the supercapacitor, which still has an Achilles' heel - insufficient energy capacity. This means that it will not become a full-fledged replacement for lithium-ion batteries. However, in SuperBattery the capacity will reach 60 Wh / kg, which is higher than that of lead acid.
