What to look for when buying a home screwdriver. I am satisfied with the screwdriver, I recommend to all home craftsmen
Suddenly I was left without a screwdriver. My favorite instrument made me live long. It turned out that many problems arise in a household without a cordless tool. The house is private and it is inconvenient to stretch the extension cord every time to reach the far corner of the yard. And my drill is very weighty. And I bought it - Handsome! Exactly.
Meet the Vortex DA-14.4L-2K LI drill-screwdriver
Two 14 volt lithium-ion batteries, good torque, keyless chuck, charger and all in a handy carrying case. Two speeds and drilling mode. Relatively lightweight and comfortable in the hand. Bright, but at the same time not easily soiled. The rubberized handle is non-slip. There is a backlight.
Selection options
I'm not a professional renovator, but my arms grow out of the right place. I love to get used to it, especially with a good instrument. Therefore, I chose a screwdriver according to the following criteria:
· Li-ion battery. The previous screwdriver had a nickel-cadmium one and it exploded during operation. Most likely, it was a factory defect, but sediments remained;
· 14 volt battery. For home use, it is enough;
· Availability of a case. It is very convenient when everything is stored in one place;
· Illumination of the working area. In dark uncomfortable places it helps out a lot;
· Affordable price. I didn't want to overpay for a famous brand.
As a result, I read a bunch of reviews and chose Whirlwind. The value for money suits me perfectly.
Operation results
I have been using the Vortex for more than six months. Twists, drills just with a bang. Self-tapping screws for wood up to 70 mm can be easily screwed in, for large sizes it is desirable to drill. Works well for metal too. Drilled with a 10 mm drill bit 4 mm metal. The battery is enough to screw more than a hundred screws into a tree. Charges to full in 1.5 hours. Thanks to this, there was no downtime.
What did not like
Of course, there were some drawbacks. They are not so significant, but there are:
· The backlight does not hit the drilling point;
· Hits the cartridge a little. Felt only at 2 speeds;
· When drilling at high speeds, the chuck clamp sometimes looses.
