Almost any object can become a decoration. All you need is creativity and arms out of your shoulders. There are no hard and fast rules here. But at the same time, there are general principles that it is better not to violate!

Good afternoon dear friends!

After all, not only home renovation requires preliminary planning. Before starting all the pre-finishing work, you also need to think over its decor to the smallest detail. And first of all, you should pay attention to the largest surfaces, namely the walls. Since if you approach this issue carelessly, then as a result you can be very upset when you see a disappointing result. Therefore, so that you did not waste your money and time in vain, and then did not correct annoying oversights, I also prepared this material.

So what do some people do wrong when decorating the walls of their apartment?

1.Disregard proportions. Remember: the decor is always selected taking into account the individual parameters of the room. It is necessary to take into account the shape and size, and height of the ceiling, and design features. For example, in a narrow small room, you should not use one large picture for decoration; it would be more correct to hang several small photographs or posters. Thus, you will slightly correct the geometry of the room, without making it visually heavier.

While in a large room, the opposite should be done. As a result, you will both emphasize the volume of space and focus on your large-scale work of art. By the way, a huge mirror can play the same role. But remember that with reflective surfaces extra care and careful calculation is required.

2.Use the wrong height. There is nothing more striking and even annoying to the eye than wall decor hung at the wrong height. Therefore, if you are a beginner and have never decorated an apartment before, here is a little advice for you!

Try to place decorative elements: paintings, photographs, shelves... - so that their middle is located in the range of 1.6-1.7 meters from the floor.

3.Apply everything at once. Do you want to show your taste and at the same time diversify the interior in the room? Wonderful! But just don't do it on one wall. That is, there is no need to place patterned wallpaper, antique mirrors or multi-colored shelves next to it. Such "eclecticism" can quickly become boring and cause visual "indigestion"!

It would be more correct to disperse the decor over the entire area of the apartment. Better yet, focus on quality over quantity. Let you have one and only decoration in the room, which will amaze everyone with its originality and uniqueness, rather than a bunch of bright tasteless trinkets!

4.Make the interior faceless. Did you like the picture from the glossy magazine, and do you plan to repeat exactly the furnishings and decor at home?! Should not be doing that. After all, you are not a copier! And the interior in your home should be unique and reflect your taste and inner world. After all, each person is unique and has their own vision of beauty and attractiveness.

Therefore, of course, you can take the design solution (ideas, elements, color palette ...) as a basis, but you shouldn't copy it completely!

5.Do not include furnishings. Strange, but this also occurs. And this is one of the most serious mistakes. After all, furniture plays a major role in the interior, and decor is a minor one!

Therefore, for example, you should not place the shelves too low above the sofa or headboard, install a vase near an outlet or place a mirror in a place where it will be extremely difficult to reach it come up. Such decor is not only inconvenient, but also able to bring disharmony into the atmosphere of your home.

6.Ignore functionality. Many practical objects in everyday life can be turned into decor, and vice versa: decoration can become an extremely useful part of the interior. Therefore, it is extremely shortsighted to consider a decorative element from only one side! For example, interesting fashionable modular shelves will not only accommodate numerous books and small accessories, but also complement and emphasize the style of your interior. A brutal shelving unit or a graphic carpet will help you easily zone the space, etc.

That is, beauty and functionality should go "hand in hand" - this will help you create a truly aesthetic and comfortable space.
