Autumn, and Roses are blooming. Pick flowers or leave
Autumn is the busiest time of the year. This is the period of harvesting and cleaning gardens and orchards. This time is often accompanied by good weather.
The rose bushes continue to bloom and new buds are blooming every day. Florists are in confusion: should they remove flowers for them to prepare for winter, or should they continue to enjoy the beauty before frost?
Roses need proper and constant care throughout the summer season. In the fall, it is necessary to prune the bushes. This will make it much easier for the plants to cope with the cold winter days.
Pruning rose bushes results in improved rose growth as well as new bud formation and root development.
In a warm autumn, it is not worth preparing the bushes for winter early. This will negatively affect the roses. In warm weather, active growth of shoots occurs, which is not desirable when cold weather sets in.
Housewives need to wait for stable weather: from -5 to 0 degrees. It is this temperature range that will indicate the need to start the procedure for cutting roses.
A similar temperature is set every year from mid-October to mid-November. During the winter, the roses will "rest" and in the new season they will delight their owners with active flowering.
Rules for pruning rose bushes:
· Shoots must be cut, keeping an angle of 45 degrees. It should be done 5 mm above the kidney. To carry out the manipulation, you will need the following tools: a pruner, a brush cutter, a knife, scissors or a file.
All instruments must be disinfected before use.
· Old and diseased shoots are subject to removal, young ones can be left. You need to cut it at the root. Shoots near the root must also be removed.
Shoots are considered to be old when they are 3 years old. The bush should not have more than 5-7 shoots.
· Not all roses need cutting. Those varieties that are woven may not undergo this procedure. However, it is problematic to cover such roses for the winter, therefore it is necessary to lay the lashes horizontally and evenly cut off the "excess" from each side.
Thus, the roses will grow from the very top to the bottom. If the lashes are folded vertically, this will not happen.
· Ground-blooming roses need quality care. We remove all shoots, except for the young and strong ones. Their length should not exceed 15 centimeters.
If you take into account all the recommendations when pruning rose bushes, then you can enjoy the beautiful flowering for a long time for many years.
