Ficus leaves fall
I love growing indoor flowers and ornamental plants. Among them, a ficus plant has been growing for several years. Therefore, I know how to properly care for him. Ficus does not like direct sunlight.
Since this plant prefers high humidity, I shower it from time to time - I spray it. Also. I always wipe the leaves with a damp cloth from dust. In winter, I make sure that the ficus does not get caught in a draft. I water it more often in summer than in winter.
I focus on the soil, as soon as it dries up, then I need to water it. I do not allow waterlogging, otherwise the roots will begin to rot and the plant will die. In the spring, in March, I transplant the ficus every year, as it grows rapidly.
Each time I prepare such soil for transplanting: a mixture of peat, rotted foliage and river sand in a ratio of 2: 2: 1. At the bottom I always lay drainage in the form of fine gravel. I choose a pot 3-4 cm wider than the previous one.
I also apply fertilizers. This is often wood ash, which contains potassium and phosphorus.
That is, the ficus is in optimal conditions. And then suddenly she began to notice how he began to shed the leaves.
Of course, I know that there is a period of rest, but it was not at all that time. After all, this happens by the end of October. For a month or two old leaves fall off, and then new ones appear.
But the leaves continued to fall, and I continued to look for the cause of this phenomenon.
This situation is often observed during the heat in summer, but it was spring, the room had, one might say, the ideal temperature for ficus - not cold and not hot. The soil was not waterlogged, and not dry, because I try to strictly monitor this. Fertilizers were also applied not so long ago.
One evening I was pensively examining a ficus tree and suddenly saw a small spider web on a branch. I began to look even more closely and noticed that the cobweb was not alone.
And then I guessed - it turns out that a spider mite attacked the ficus. And this pest moved to him, most likely from a room rose, which I briefly put next to him.
Rose very often suffers from the invasion of a spider mite. And I process it all the time. Apparently, when the ficus with a rose turned out to be neighbors for a short time on the windowsill. At this time, a tick has already settled on the rose. I soon rearranged the ficus and did not think that it could be infected.
Immediately, I sprayed the entire ficus with a carefully purchased special spider mite remedy. But, as it happens with a rose, all the remaining leaves flew around him. I hoped that they would grow back, like the rose. And, fortunately, it happened. Now my ficus stands in splendid isolation, I don't put any flowers nearby.
