What am I doing in September so that the Decembrist will bloom gorgeous in December
I did not manage to make friends with the Decembrist for several years - despite all my efforts, acquired both in the flower shop and in the market, the plants refused to bloom.
Fortunately, along with my last purchase of a lush bush, I received some valuable tips that helped me defeat the stubborn and achieve lush flowering.
Compliance with temperature and lighting features
September is the month when the Decembrist bushes are already beginning to prepare for flowering. One of the most important stages of growing is temperature control.
My plant stood on the balcony throughout the summer, but in mid-September, when the nights were already rather cold, the pot with my pet went to its permanent place - to the western windowsill.
I do not advise you to bet on the southern one - an overabundance of light will lead to an active build-up of green mass.
The optimum temperature for a Decembrist in September is 10-15 degrees. If you cannot provide the most comfortable conditions in which the bush begins to lay buds, you can leave it on the street until October (provided that the night temperature is at least 5-7 degrees).
Watering and feeding in September for abundant flowering
The most important secret of stimulating the Decembrist to bloom is not to abuse watering! It is necessary to moisten the substrate in the pot very sparsely - no more than 50 ml per pot with a volume of 1-1.5 liters.
I usually check the readiness of the plant for watering with my finger, the soil should be about 2-3 cm dry.
In September, the Decembrist needs fertilizing stimulating flowering, which contribute to the laying of buds. You can use commercial fertilizers with a high percentage of phosphorus.
I rarely use purchased fertilizers, preferring to use yeast infusion for flowering plants:
1. Take 50 gr. yeast (I use only live compressed yeast), mix with sugar (25 gr.).
2. Wait a quarter of an hour, add warm, settled water (1 l).
3. Stir, leave for 2-3 hours.
Do not use yeast dressing in its pure form - you can burn the roots of the plant. I usually dilute the product with warm water, the proportion is 1: 5. I water it with home fertilizer every two weeks.
Do not worry if you made mistakes in growing the Decembrist during the year - you still have time to fix everything if you take it up in September.
The main thing is to provide your pet with comfortable conditions, do not forget about proper watering and feeding.
He will certainly thank you for his care in the winter in the only way available to him - a gorgeous bloom!
