The Decembrist bloomed poorly, a friend advised a simple top dressing

Several years ago my husband gave me a Decembrist. It was small, but covered with pink flowers. It was very beautiful. Every year this handsome man grew up, I transplanted him into a deeper pot. Honestly speaking, I usually did not feed anything.

Because he already bloomed beautifully before the new year. But for the last two years, my pet has bloomed twice with fewer flowers, and this period ended very quickly.

Of course, I realized that now I can't do without fertilization. But how to choose them correctly?

After a while, I went to visit a friend, and gasped - how magnificently her Decembrist was blooming. “Lena, how do you look after him? Do you sprinkle with some magic liquid? ”I asked.

She laughed and told some of her secrets. Fertilizers vary by season. In spring and summer, it is best to choose those that contain nitrogen.

They will help the plant grow new leaves. But they cannot be brought in in the fall. After all, this time is not for building up green mass, but the Decembrist must be prepared for flowering. Moreover, in the fall, top dressing is allowed a month before flowering, and later it is impossible.

Since this houseplant blooms, mainly at the end of December, it is necessary to fertilize at the end of November - early December. But, of course, flowering times vary.

For me, for example, it is covered with buds already in mid-December. Therefore, you need to take this into account and roughly calculate the time.

A friend told me the recipe for feeding. It turned out to be quite simple. It is necessary to prepare an infusion of mullein. To do this, one part of the mullein must be diluted four times with water.

In other words, you should think about how much water you need to pour into the pot and add four times less mullein there. This is a very nutritious solution that will help the Decembrist gain strength and bloom magnificently.

However, there is more. During the appearance of buds and the flowering itself, the Decembrist must be sprayed with a solution of boric acid. It is prepared very simply.

Only 1 gram of boric acid is required per liter of water. The water must be warm. We spray the Decembrist with this solution either in the morning or in the evening so that the sun's rays do not hit the plant and there is no burn.

This additional dressing makes the flowering even more intense.

I listened to the advice of a friend, and now my handsome Decembrist blooms much longer and in larger flowers. You just need to stock up on mullein in advance by the beginning of winter.
