What my country house and annexes look like. Still sloppy

How to move from city to country. Moving stories, what difficulties we had to face. On the pros and cons of suburban life. Today we will continue the story of Mark, who now lives in a beautiful Ukrainian village.

I am Mark, a man who moved out of town to downshift to a beautiful Ukrainian village where my father lives alone.

Due to the loneliness and low level of his own economy, sticking to the computer, my father put this site into disrepair, and I had to clean it up for a long time, but I could not bring everything to perfection.

I'll show you the house and the utility rooms in the state they are in now (I won't show you the mess).

Here is the house. The photo shows a washbasin where we wash our hands and very rarely the dishes. Water is collected in a well, after which it is poured into the water compartment, and flows under the force of gravity when the valve is lifted.

We also collect rainwater in all available containers (a bathhouse and several buckets) for watering plants, sometimes washing dishes in rainwater, washing clothes and washing ourselves. Now there has been no rain for a long time, we are looking forward to it.

The house itself is made of stone and clay, this is how it looked decades ago:

And here is his registration certificate

The kitchen is the first room you enter when you enter the house. Equipped with a good electric stove (a gift from uncle to grandmother), a table and a service full of glass jars. There is no gas.

Hallway. Just an empty room with an empty chest. And winter jackets are hanging.

Father's study. Here is his computer and TV, which we use as a second monitor and audio player. There is no normal television, because you need to buy a tuner for it (analog television was killed by the state), it's easier to watch YouTube on the Internet.

In a rocking chair, my father traditionally works on his articles and books, sometimes I sit on a tree stump. During the depression I drew a picture of a woman on top of the faded "Three Bogatyrs" print of some printing factory of the 50s. The cracked wall on the side is a stove plastered with clay - the free building material from which, in fact, the house is made. In reality, when we were doing repairs in this room, we just went and dug up the clay, kneaded and plastered the cracks, and then whitened it with lime.

First bedroom with two beds. Carpets on the walls, I must say right away - for beauty and preservation of heat, and not from bad taste. I found a picture of pine trees while cleaning the attic. In the corner of the room there is a router, from which an antenna comes out, catching 4g rays from the roof. Wi-fi at a speed of 4g catches all over the house.

In the middle of the room is a wood-burning stove, which warms us up in the cold autumn (its capacity is not enough for a comfortable stay in cold winter - but my father somehow managed to live and not freeze). Also, plums roam in this place, which have already become good both as a chatter for direct use, and are also a brew for distillation.

The second bedroom, with a broken (still) bed and a mattress on which the father sleeps. As you can see, some kind of repair has been made in this room - it was not we who did it, but the grandmother hired workers and paid a large amount, so that in case of a funeral there was a normal place for a commemoration (or for me to play the wedding, jokingly, she said she). To be honest, I would invest this money much better now - but then, when we - father, me and grandmother - got it inheritance, I, having also received the same amount, rented a club for parties and an apartment in Kiev and just hung out for myself.

Now the grandmother is in a nursing home - and literally stuck there, she is not released because of the coronavirus, but if you do try to pick her up from there, she may not be allowed back, as happened, for example, with father.

Now let's move on to the utility rooms on my site.

Here is the chicken coop. Would be a great place for the ducks I wanted to have, but time has eaten a big hole in the wall that any dog can go through and eat my ducks.

Rabbit house. We see three crates specially made for the living of rabbits - but they are not perfect, and a special hole with a grid for water supply is inconvenient for rabbits, so we just lift the lid and throw food / change water. Now one rabbit lives in it, which we will slaughter and eat pretty soon.

Bath. Well, in the future it will be a bathhouse - now it's just a room with a destroyed stove. I will tell you later how to make a steam room out of such a room.

Utility rooms 3 and 4 - once were a warehouse and a carpentry workshop, but now a neighbor filled them, with the permission of his father, to the eyeballs with sheaves of corn. I don’t know what they are for him, but I sometimes steal a couple of dry leaves from him, wrap tobacco in them and smoke these rolls, like the Maya and Aztecs.

And the most interesting thing is the toilet. No pit, no sewer, no running water - a purely symbolic stool with a vat for feces. When it fills up, my father and I take it to the end of the plot and pour it next to the trees.

You ask - how do you wash? We transfer it to the backyard, behind the chicken coop, the bathhouse, pour a bucket of boiling water and two buckets of cold water into it - and pour this water from the jar.

It all looks depressing and wild, but I just started to take root. Of course, I have plans to make a bathhouse, a toilet in the house, and chairs to fix, and this, and that... You subscribe to the blog and follow how I will do it.

In the next episode, I will show you the entire site, vegetable garden and local attractions.
