I cut roses for Winter only in this way. The bush grows and renews very quickly

In the agricultural technology of garden roses, seasonal, more precisely - autumn pruning is one of the most important activities, ensuring their safe wintering and renewal next year, strong plant health and smart bloom.

Guided by my own experience and knowledge, gleaned from scientific and botanical books, year after year I got used to pruning roses in the only way, and perhaps you will use it too!

First of all, I remove the faded buds, thus not allowing the roses to waste energy in forming the seeds. Then comes the turn of sanitary pruning, in which all shoots and leaves noticeably affected by pests and diseases are eliminated.

If dead shoots are found, they must be cut to a "living" place, which is easy to recognize by the white core.

It is also very important to remove young, unripe branches, recognizable by their characteristic red tint. The fact is that no matter how you cover the roses, these parts of them will surely not stand the frost and will turn into a focus for the development of some disease.

It is not worth preserving those shoots that grow inward, thus creating excess density for the plant.

From practice in my own garden, I realized that in hybrid roses, it is necessary to remove shoots older than 3 years, and for ordinary varieties, only older shoots can be removed - from 4-5 years.

Many gardeners are confused - how much to cut roses? Theoretically, there is a separate order of preserving the number of branches and buds for polyanthus roses, roses floribunda, climbing small-colored ramblers and climbers... In general, novice flower growers get confused not difficult!

If you don't want to plunge into the jungle of caring for roses, or you don't know exactly what grows in the garden, you can just stop at medium pruning, which, by the way, I sometimes use!

With her, the bushes are cut, keeping about 35 cm from the soil level, leaving 5-7 buds on each branch. The only exception is that medium pruning is not suitable for ground cover roses, which, as the name implies, seem to creep along the ground.

It is enough to shorten their strong shoots by a quarter of the length, and the side branches that gave flower buds in the season should be cut off into 2-3 buds.

In conclusion of the topic, I want to add that roses should be cut not only according to the correct scheme, but also at the right time, namely - on the eve of shelter during the first night frosts, but before stable negative temperatures for the night and day.
