Alteration of a garden house in permanent residence: a wooden paradise instead of a concrete box

How to solve the housing issue if you don't want to live in a cramped apartment, but you have a summer cottage? Even small, but with land on which you can build or attach. The answer is simple: they are not afraid of difficulties and realize their country dreams! Yes, it’s not a city, the infrastructure is undeveloped, but this is liberation from the concrete shackles.

What made you move to the country house?

Our user with the nickname Dr. Bromental rebuilt this house from a frame dacha 6 * 4 m. It was like this: the doctor and his wife lived on the fourth floor of a five-story Khrushchev. He is an orthopedic traumatologist, his wife is a primary school teacher; after hard work with people at home, I wanted psychological relief, but in Khrushchev no relief was possible. The neighbor upstairs slept under a loud TV, the neighbors on the right adored loud scandals, the neighbor on the left came from the club at night and turned on loud music... No earplugs helped

Like many people living in such hellish conditions, the doctor dreamed of a home; but their income with his wife did not allow them to buy even a hundred square meters of land. And the nightmare life in the little kopeck piece continued.

Fortunately, they had an outlet - a plot of 5.5 acres within the city limits with a 4x6 non-insulated frame dacha built in 1982. For three summer months we lived there, taking a break from the city nightmare, and then friends advised me to remake it for year-round housing.

At FORUMHOUSE, the doctor was firmly told that it was real, and instead of a half-closed veranda, he attached house an L-shaped extension, insulated the walls and the attic, laid communications and forgot about my city nightmare.

House characteristics

Here's what the house turned out to be:

  • The total area is about 80 m2.
  • Construct: frame insulated with foam plastic 150 mm.
  • Outside sheathed with corrugated board.
  • From the inside - imitation of timber and planed board 20 mm, bathroom - DSP and ceramics.
  • Heating. In 2012–2013 heating and hot water supply consumed 2,750 kg of pellets.
  • Engineer and autonomous devices: sewerage, uninterruptible power supply system 2.1 kW for 12 hours + generator 2 kW, pellet heating, hot water from a boiler, water supply from a well.
  • Facade - metal siding.

To make the upstairs room look rectangular, the doctor made built-in wardrobes on either side of the stairs. The construction took four months - the result is in front of you.
