I told my grandfather to change the flexible eyeliner. Did not want
About 2 years ago I put a new water heater to my neighbor and my retired friend. For one thing, he advised me to replace the old eyeliner hoses, as it was evident that they were too loose. In addition, instead of the standard flexible eyeliner, he had rubber oxygen hoses for gas welding.
He insisted on his own: "They are good," he says, "they are only 17 years old, they will serve the same number of years." That is why the last couple of days the lonely old man had to do some physical education, and even at night. The hoses leaked, just 2 out of three. It didn't flood much, but I constantly had to take out the water with a bowl, and for a person in his 80s, such an event does not pass in vain.
But the most interesting thing is how the old eyeliner was mounted !!!His water heater is under the sink in the kitchen - "Ariston"10 liters. Its peculiarity is the upper position of the cold and hot water pipes, where the hoses are screwed. Usually a safety valve is installed at the cold water inlet. He looked, but he was not there, but he could be seen on the hot water hose, and right at its very middle, which can be seen by the color of the ring at the base of the pipe (cm. photo 1)
It is curious that the valve is somewhat unusual, without a lever for manual pressure relief, empty inside, just with a spring in the side outlet and he stood upside down. In my opinion, after replacing the water heater of the eyeliner, my friend decided to install it himself, so it turned out to be unusual.
The gas-welding hose survived to adulthood, but then it gave up. The picture below shows what happened to the smallest of the three, which was on the washer. All hoses were fixedly mounted with clamps on brass fittings and they can be turned to the side during installation or removal only by loosening the clamps.
Bought for replacement new flexible hoses, but not with a metal braid, but with a PVC braidwhich lasts even longer than metal. The main thing is that the sun does not fall on it.
Before installing the hoses, I screwed a safety valve onto the boiler nozzle, but its discharge nose is now sticking out. If the valve was triggered, the water heater would simply be flooded with water, so I had to put on a drainage tube for the catchment. All these moments are visible on photo 3.
I specially took meter liners, with a normal margin in length, so that there were no sharp bends. Now I think I won't go to the next call to my friend soon.
