How I made a gate from a metal profile myself: stages of work
During the construction of a country house, I partially created a fence; instead of the front side of the fence, I had a chain-link mesh installed.
I made this choice for several reasons. Firstly, at that time I had not yet decided what material I would use to build this part of the fence. I had a dilemma between brick, metal profile and reinforced concrete panels.
Secondly, I needed to block access to the territory of my site for strangers, so a temporary fence was necessary.
The chain-link was ideal for these purposes, since it had the lowest price of all available materials. But, during the operation of such a fence, I faced difficulties in organizing access to the site for me and my family. I decided to install a wicket door, choosing a metal profile for it in the same tone as the metal tile, which was used for the roof.
The wicket creation process included several stages:
- Performed the markup, during which he determined the places for the installation of the structure.
- I dug holes, 50 cm deep, for metal pillars, which should serve as a support for the gate. Before installing them, he poured crushed stone on the bottom, fixing it with concrete.
- From metal corners I welded a rectangular structure, in the middle I made reinforcement with metal.
- I welded on the hinges, cut out holes in the post and in the profile of the gate for the lock structure.
- He treated all metal elements with a primer mixture, and then painted it several times.
- I hung the workpiece on the hinges, after which I proceeded to cladding with a metal profile, which I fixed both outside and inside.
At the final stage, I installed a lock on the gate.
