Interior design: if you are not an adherent of radical styles and "acid" colors, then hygge is for you
It's a strange word, isn't it? It is literally impossible to translate it. Some linguists believe that its "progenitor" is the medieval word "hug", others associate it with the noun "mood". Actually, both words very clearly describe this traditional Danish style of interior: you want to wrap yourself up in it like in the arms of a loved one in order to improve your mood.
If you are not an adherent of radical styles and "acidic" colors, then hygge is for you. A solid, calm and even modest interior in the hygge style is associated with safety and comfort in every detail. But also with welfare. Indeed, for its implementation, a lot of funds will be needed.
The secret of Danish happiness lies in natural materials, especially solid wood, which is used to decorate almost all surfaces, in an abundance of pillows, carpets and rugs, vintage decor items and many lighting devices. There must be a fireplace in the room! What a cosiness without a real hearth, in which in winter the firewood crackles so comfortably, and in front of the fireplace it is so pleasant to stretch out on a carpet-skin!
There is very little furniture in Danish houses. The nouveau riche Russians can learn from the Danes about the reuse of materials and the ability to get by with only the necessary items. Moreover, this property has nothing to do with stinginess or poverty. This is a tribute to a respectful attitude towards nature and other people's work.
Hygge is a kind of symbiosis of traditional Scandinavian country music and modern laconic eco-style. Cozy and comfortable. You just want to wrap yourself up in a checkered blanket, drink aromatic herbal tea from a large mug and watch the tongues of flame "dance" in the hearth.
