As it turned out, I collected and dried garlic completely wrong. Now I always follow my neighbor's advice.

To grow good garlic, you will first need varietal seed material and, of course, compliance with all the rules of agricultural technology.

I have been growing garlic for many years, but only recently understood some of the nuances that help preserve the harvest until fresh garlic appears.

A big mistake is made by those gardeners who break off absolutely all garlic arrows.

Of course, you can cook very tasty things from them, but if you want to keep the garlic as long as possible, it is better to leave the arrows on several plants intact.

The fact is that with the help of garlic arrows, you can very accurately determine the time of harvest. When the arrow straightens out and the seed head is fully open, begin to remove the garlic from the garden without delay.

Weather also plays an important role in determining when to harvest garlic. If you know that heavy rains are about to begin, it is best to dig up the garlic earlier.

I also don't water the garlic two weeks before harvesting.
In good sunny weather, after you dig up the garlic, you can leave it in the garden to dry.

But if it rains, put the garlic to dry under some kind of awning.

Let the garlic sit for a day or two. Then, without cutting off the stem or root in any way, we put the crop in the attic.

After a month, you can cut the stems, leaving 10-15 centimeters. Do not touch the root!

To prevent the garlic from damp and turning into dust, it is necessary to pour about 1-2 cm of coarse salt on the bottom of the cardboard box and cover it with newspaper on top.

Then we put a layer of garlic and cover it with newspaper again. If there is a lot of garlic, you will have to use several boxes, but your garlic will be preserved perfectly, as if in a specialized vegetable store.

I have been storing the whole crop in this simple way for two years now and I always have good garlic right up to the point when it grows fresh in the garden.
