New research and super-powerful magnetic fields

Recently conducted laboratory studies performed by Osaka University staff using supercomputer simulations allowed to discover a completely new mechanism, which was called "the collapse of microtubes", and as a result of this process a magnetic field was generated MegaTesla
(MT = 100,000,000,000 Gs).

Surprisingly, this value is three orders of magnitude higher than the field that has ever been recorded in laboratories. And such a value, for a minute, is inherent in such space objects as neutron stars and black holes.

What the process of obtaining super-strong magnetic fields looks like

In order to obtain a magnetic field of such power, it is planned to use special lasers that will irradiate a plastic microtube one-tenth the thickness of a human hair. As a result of this process, hot electrons will appear, the temperature of which will be tens of billions of degrees.

So these super-hot electrons, together with cold ions, will expand into the micropipe cavity at a speed close to the speed of light. So during this process of expansion, a magnetic field will exert its influence on the object. of the order of kT, which will cause an ultra-small twisting of the exploding charged particles due to the action of the force Lorenz.

It is this swirling process that will cause the appearance of spin currents of enormous power of the order of 10,000 000 000 000 000 Amperes per centimeter square and thus an ultra-strong magnetic field.

When will the real experiment be done

The work done has shown that modern laser systems are capable of realizing such powerful magnetic fields in laboratory conditions on Earth, but only when a real experiment is performed while unknown.

But according to scientists, work in this direction will make it possible to carry out real breakthrough research in many areas at once. For example, research is planned in such areas as materials science, quantum electrodynamics, astrophysics, etc.
