What to do when Benjamin's ficus drops its leaves. The way that really helped to cope with the problem

Ficus Benjamin has long taken its place of honor in my house among indoor plants. I fell in love with him for the sophistication of the color of the foliage. The presentable appearance of such a ficus is able to attract the attention of guests, but few people know about the capriciousness of this plant.

In the process of caring for a plant, certain conditions must be observed. If Benjamin's ficus doesn't like them, then the plant can react by dropping the leaves and completely exposing the crown.

This trouble requires immediate intervention, since the process of returning to its former beauty can be delayed for a long time.

In the autumn and winter, my ficus leaves fall off, but no more than 10 pieces. As a rule, the lower leaves fly around. This is a natural pattern. If the norm is exceeded, then there is cause for concern. The signal for action is the fall of foliage from the top of the plant.

Reasons for foliage falling on Benjamin's ficus:

I keep track of maintaining the temperature in the room where my pet is growing. He does not like sudden temperature changes, drafts and dark places. Excessive or insufficient watering negatively affects its condition.

Only moderate humidity will be the key to successful plant development. In this case, you need to focus not on the regularity of watering, but on the condition of the soil.

Its drying to a depth of 2 cm signals an incipient lack of moisture. It is better to use melt or rainwater for irrigation.

Well-settled tap water, the temperature of which reaches 25 degrees, is also suitable.

With the onset of autumn, I always fertilize the plant. Ash is a simple and affordable tool, and the content of potassium and phosphorus in it helps to improve the quality of the soil.

I apply ash by pouring 1 tablespoon into a pot and then gently loosen the ground. I finish feeding by watering.

In the summer, my ficus is very fond of spraying with boric acid, which promotes the formation of chlorophyll in the greenery. To do this, I dilute 1 gram of boric acid in 1 liter of water. Such foliar feeding can be carried out no more than 1 time per month.

If the ficus drops its leaves due to the onset of diseases, then excessive moisture is to blame. In my practice, this happened once. I immediately removed the affected leaves and carried out 3 treatments of the plant with Fitoverm at an interval of 10 days. To do this, it was necessary to dilute 10 ml of the product in 1 liter of water.

Pests attack Benjamin's ficus due to too dry or humid indoor air, so maintaining the temperature balance is a condition for preventing them from settling.

If aphids or scale insects have settled on its gorgeous leaves, then the easiest way is to treat them with soapy water. In the case when after a few weeks the procedure does not give a result, then apply the chemical "Actellik".

In the fight against mealybugs, tobacco infusion helps. The most dangerous pest is nematode worms. A sign of their settlement is the wilting of the plant and the fading of its foliage.

To save the ficus, it is completely pulled out of the pot and immersed in an insecticide for 3 hours. Then they are dried, the affected roots are removed and transplanted into new soil.

Don't forget about a pet transplant. It must be carried out every 2 years, since during this period the plant manages to braid the entire earthen ball with its roots, which leads to exhaustion.
