Changing the care of the Decembrist (4 simple tricks). And in December I see a lush hat of bright flowers. I will share
Fiery fireworks, fellow flower growers!
Do you want to see your Decembrist blooming magnificently to the nature-designated row? A little bit change the care of the houseplant. The Decembrist has already begun to prepare for a delightful flowering. Now it's your turn!
What kind of lighting does a Decembrist need for beautiful flowering
Schlumberger (the official name for the winter flower) does not look very attractive when not in bloom. Green flat stems, as they say, are not for everybody. For this annoying reason, the pot often ends up in the back of the room. I noticed that for some reason many people like to put the Decembrist on a cabinet or shelf.
But the brightness of the lighting plays an important role in the splendor of flowering. In order for the Schlumberger to be covered with numerous buds, it is necessary to rearrange the pot to the sunniest place in the house.
At least temporarily, if the window sill with good lighting is already occupied with other colors. Give the Decembrist a place in the sun for 3 months so that he shows himself in all its glory.
How and what to start feeding the Decembrist
The formation of buds, the dissolution of large flowers and the brightness of the color of the Schlumberger petals consumes many nutrients. Not to say that this is a flower demanding for feeding. But if he sits in the same pot for more than a year, regular feeding is required. And for any plant "treats" will benefit and stimulate flowering.
there is 3 proven feeding options:
- Standard fertilizer "For flowering" in liquid form or in the form of sticks. Top dressing according to the instructions shows good results.
- Potassium monophosphate - a strong fertilizer that gives an explosive bloom effect. Still, because the composition is saturated with phosphorus and potassium. To start the massive growth of buds, spray the Decembrist in October-November with a solution of the product: 10 g per 10 liters of warm water.
It is interesting: To bring flowering closer, I recommend using foliar feeding (in the world - spraying). Nutrients will work faster if absorbed by the leaf rather than absorbed by the roots
- Boric acid (powder) - boron form available for plants and flower growers. It stimulates flowering in ornamental pets and fruiting in garden green pets. Sold, comrades, in pharmacies and agricultural departments. Make a weak solution (1 g in 10 L of water) and spray with Schlumberger. 1 g of boric acid powder is 1/5 teaspoon.
For convenience, dilute potassium monophosphate and boric acid first in a little warm water. When cold, crystals dissolve more slowly. And then just pour the prepared solution into the required volume of water.
Watering Schlumberger during bud set and flowering
The Decembrist is notable for being a succulent. This is not a houseplant that needs to be watered frequently. The fleshy leaves do an excellent job of keeping moisture in and spending it wisely.
But the period from the moment the buds appear until the end of flowering is an exception to the rule. Keep the soil in the pot slightly damp. Due to the lack of moisture, the Schlumbergers indignantly throw off the buds. Wouldn't you like to agree?
How to stimulate the flowering of the Decembrist: a method that works flawlessly from year to year
The best natural stimulant for the incomparable flowering of the Decembrists is low temperature. Having been in a closed loggia with a temperature of 15-18 ° C for about 10 days, indoor plants begin to bloom en masse.
If you, comrades, do not have such a luxury as a cold room, just move the pot closer to the cool glass. The result will not be long in coming!
