Do I need to take out the beacons after plastering? PVC lighthouses do not rust

They often argue: is it necessary to leave the lighthouses after plastering or is it better to remove them. And if they must be removed, then why are perforated corners left in the corners? This corner is made of the same metal.

Lighthouses serve to get a flat surface. I remember how in Soviet times my father built a house and plastered the walls himself. We helped fill the shingle grate. This grating was used to better anchor the plaster layer. As a result, the walls were crooked and the corners were oblique, not even. Now this technology is a thing of the past. These days they use a special mesh.

The old masters made lighthouses from mortar right on the wall. Today, to facilitate the work, everyone uses ready-made beacons and corners in the form of galvanized metal profiles.

Why do lighthouses rust in dry walls?

Some masters make such arguments. When we put new, shiny beacons, we think that they will not rust in a dry house (walls). But this is not the case. If you leave the lighthouses in the plaster, then rust will be visible through the finish (wallpaper, paint). But the lighthouses have a protective layer.

Why do they rust? The thing is that as a rule, we rip off the protective layer during work. And then we rip off the protection with a spatula. The putty is not dry, it is wet, so rust appears. It's good if rust appears right away, and not after you paste the wallpaper or paint the walls. Then you will have to remove the decoration, beacons and restore the walls. Excessive spending and time spent will be remembered for a long time.

In addition to rust, beacons in some places, not always, but move away from the walls.

One more problem: If you start to drill the walls to hang the painting or shelves, it may damage the material, cracks in the wall will appear.

When and how to remove beacons?

You can remove both fresh and hardened plaster. However. in the latter version, it will be much more difficult to remove the beacons. If you tear them off on the newly applied plaster, there will also be problems. The solution may fall off in pieces. Therefore, the best option is to remove the beacons using a well-set, but not completely dry solution.

Tap with a hammer along the entire length of the lighthouse and, starting from the top, remove the lighthouse with pliers. Seal the holes from the profile with the same plaster using a spatula.

If the decoration is with tiles, stone, wood and other similar materials, then you do not need to pull out the beacons.

Plastic beacon is not removed

Plastic does not rust. The lighthouses are very light, strong and sturdy. They do not need to be removed from the walls after plastering. Does not cause radio interference. There is a minus: it reacts poorly to temperature changes. Do not use for outdoor use.
