The Ministry of Emergency Situations told how to protect the dacha from fire in winter. Simple tips to save property

The main causes of fires in SNT

As noted by rescuers, arson does not happen so often. Usually the cause of a fire lies in non-compliance with safety measures, careless or improper handling of fuels and lubricants. And buildings may suffer not only on your site, but also on neighboring ones.

What you need to do in the country before leaving

It is recommended to take out all flammable liquids, gas cylinders from the dacha, remove leaves, brushwood, firewood - at a distance of three meters from the house. This forms a protective strip. It is important to clean debris off roofs as well. If a neighbor starts a fire and the fire spreads to your building, branches and other rubbish will intensify the fire.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations warns that even a cigarette butt thoughtlessly thrown to passers-by behind your fence can cause a fire. And sometimes gardeners store canisters with fuels and lubricants under a canopy. It is not easy to extinguish such a fire. Rescuers also urge gardeners not to burn the leaves - the foliage should be thrown into the trash can.

The headquarters remind you to hang in a conspicuous place a piece of paper with a single emergency number - 112. This will help the person not to get confused and call for help in time.

Gas and electricity

If you plan to come to the country house in the autumn-winter period and use electricity, heat the premises, then before leaving, turn off all appliances from the sockets and turn off the gas. The department clarifies that you cannot just turn off the stove - the gas supply must be shut off for the entire area.

It is undesirable to store a gas cylinder on the site - especially in wooden structures. A stone or brick extension is a more acceptable solution. The stove, gas boiler, chimneys (any heating equipment) must be checked now. If something is faulty or does not work as usual, you need to call the foreman (by the way, an EMERCOM license is not required to lay the stove from October 17, 2017).
