Do spathiphyllum leaves turn black? I tell you how to quickly help a "female" flower
Fiery fireworks, comrades indoor florists!
Today on the agenda is the beautiful spathiphyllum and its black tips. Changing the edge of the leaf spoils the appearance of the houseplant. Even blooming tirelessly "Women's happiness" loses in beauty, if the tips turn yellow, then turn brown and eventually turn into dust. But it is worth changing the care - and the flower is transformed before our eyes.
What to do with already damaged leaves
You need to understand that irreversible changes have already occurred in the tips of the sheet. Even the most careful care will not restore the cells of the spathiphyllum leaf plate. No matter how sorry it is, if the blackness catches your eye, then the leaf must be completely cut off. This will preserve the dignified appearance of the flower. The next step is to fix the leaving so that the new leaves no longer turn black.
Spathiphyllum is a houseplant that needs to be cut periodically. Not only spoiled, but also old leaves go under the scissors. They grow at the base of the rosette and change color over time, becoming a yellow mosaic.
Comrade! When cutting the leaves of the spathiphyllum, leave a stalk 2-5 cm long.
No need to try to cut the spoiled sheet of "Women's Happiness" as low as possible. It will still not work to remove the petiole "under zero". It will start to rot and transfer the fungi to the roots. A stump 2-5 cm long will turn yellow and fade over time. It will be easy to get it out of the thick of the bush in a month or two - during transplanting or carefully sorting through the greenery.
"Soft" dark leaves at "Women's Happiness"
Black leaf spathiphyllum - black leaf strife. If the darkened edge hangs like a rag, then the bay plant is to blame. A change in appearance signals: water has stagnated at the bottom of the pot and has provoked rotting of the root system. Dangerous? Yes. But fixable.
It is not enough to stop wetting the filled pot for a while. An urgent transplant is required - with soil replacement and root inspection. Anything black and soft must be removed.
Comrade, remember! If the plant is flooded, it should be replanted immediately. Not on weekends, not on vacation, not in spring. And the strict rule applies even to such an unpretentious home flower as spathiphyllum.
It's not overkill. To fill the spathiphyllum (I dare to remind you for a moment, in nature, "Women's Happiness" grows with their feet in a swamp),it's really rude to violate all the rules for planting a houseplant:
- Soil for spathiphyllum must quickly pass moisture and air. Under a strict ban - oily soil from the garden. The smart choice for high-peat potting mixes with sand or perlite.
- Pot should be only slightly larger than the root ball. A little more is 2-4 cm. Not 8, not 10, not "for growth." This means that this distance is optimal from the leaves to the edge of the dish.
- But the main friend of spathiphyllum is a thick layer drainage. 2-3 cm is excellent. Expanded clay will guarantee the removal of excess moisture. The roots of "Women's Happiness" will be safe.
Observing 3 fundamental planting rules, the owner of an indoor flower can be calm. "Women's happiness" will remain in the house for a long time.
But the most common reason is, of course, a lack of moisture.
Spathiphyllum is perhaps one of the most moisture-loving indoor plants. Only balsam can compete with it in the use of moisture. Due to the lack of moisture, the tips suffer first of all - they turn yellow, turn brown and then turn black.
That "Women's Happiness" had green tips, simple measures are enough:
- Ensure that the soil is always slightly damp. Constant watering in the pan is a great option - let the plant take as much water as it needs. Let it always be in the saucer. Gulf won't happen if you read the previous section of the article carefully: good drainage will do the trick.
- Spray the flower with a spray bottle every morning.
After following these simple rules, you will soon notice: the state of the leaves has changed for the better. The plan is this: first we delete what has already turned black, then we do not allow the problem to recur.
