Methods for attaching the lining in the bath so that it does not crack and there are no rusty spots (the fastest fastening of the lining)
Lining is often used to decorate the bath. It still does not lose its relevance. It is a beautiful, sustainable material that is ideal for interior cladding. How to quickly and easily fix the lining.
We will tell you about all the methods and mark the best one (at the end).
The lining is mounted horizontally or vertically on the lathing. With a horizontal mounting method, installation starts from the ceiling. This is necessary to prevent moisture from penetrating inside (fastening with a thorn up). Horizontal has its own plus: you can then replace the rotted bottom lining. Vertical starts from any angle. Leave gaps near the ceiling and floor for ventilation.
Is there some more diagonal and combined method of laying the lining.
The panels are fixed with self-tapping screws, nails, clamps, a stapler. Which fastener is best?
Nails
But this option has a drawback: you can split and ruin the board. To slightly reduce the risk of cracking, nails are driven in under 45 grams.
The head of the nail should be well sunk into the lining, otherwise the next element cannot be inserted into the groove. Use nails with a length of 5-6 cm. Use only hot-dip galvanized nails.
But even galvanizing in a bath will lose its properties in a few years and the nails will rust.
Most, deciding to save money, buy regular metal nails, which leads to ugly rusty streaks. This shortcoming is unlikely to be corrected later. If the room is not small, then you can "beat off your hands" and it will take a lot of nails.
Copper nails and staples. Such fasteners will cost more, but they will not corrode. However, copper fasteners are difficult to work with. You will need to drill holes for each nail, because they are very soft. They are not suitable for hidden fasteners (the cap is large).
Self-tapping screws
It is considered to be a reliable fastener. For fixing the lining for a long time. As a rule, they buy yellow self-tapping screws to match the color of the finish. Length from 20 mm. The screw must have a countersunk cap. The thicker the fasteners, the worse (the lining may crack).
Self-tapping screws are more reliable than nails. They are not prone to twisting and do not squeak when pressed against the lining like nails. Another huge plus is that you can safely disassemble the finished clapboard trim and reattach it with the same screws.
Stapler
Use a construction stapler. The bracket fits snugly into the wood and does not interfere with the installation of the subsequent element.
A stapler is sometimes used in conjunction with a cleaimer.
Kleimers
This is not a stand-alone fastener. It requires additional fixation with nails, staples or self-tapping screws. It is a kind of staple with holes and a hook. This type of fastening ensures the durability of the entire structure. Kleimers are fixed with nails, staples to the crate, and not to the lining. In this case, there is no need to be afraid that the panels will crack. Then it can be easily dismantled.
Secret: it is more difficult and time-consuming to fasten the clamps with nails.
Therefore, it is better to use self-tapping screws. Take a fastener whose thread does not start immediately from the head. And you can screw the self-tapping screw not into the hole in the kleimer, but only so that the cap presses it down.
