Don't torment the tree: how to cut large branches in the Garden correctly
Pruning fruit trees is an integral part of caring for them. Removing unnecessary branches is necessary not only for the rejuvenation of trees, but also for their abundant fruiting.
Carrying out this procedure requires certain knowledge and dexterity, otherwise you can damage the bark or break branches. Cutting down large branches is especially difficult, and many gardeners perform this manipulation incorrectly, tormenting the tree for a long time.
I will be happy to teach you how to quickly, correctly and painlessly rid a tree of unnecessary bulky branches.
Features of large branches
A large branch is a branch whose diameter at its base is at least 5 cm. Such a branch cannot be removed with a pruner or a delimber.
You can't do without a saw or a garden hacksaw. It is important that the tool is well sharpened and disinfected.
First, you need to carefully examine the branch that you plan to remove, and then cut off all the knots and small branches on it.
Prohibited actions
Many novice gardeners recklessly cut a branch from above, as a result, there is an "overweight" and the branch simply breaks off, leaving a wound that endangers the health of the tree as a whole. Such actions are unacceptable.
Correct algorithm
To cut a large branch neatly without harming the tree, I use a saw at a distance of 0.5 meters from the trunk, I cut the branch to half its thickness, and I cut from the bottom trunk.
Further, I retreat from the place of the cut to the side of 0.2 meters and already from the top of the table I again cut the branch to its half. As a result, the branch will inevitably break off anyway, but breaking off will be completed at the first cut.
Now you can cut the branch into a ring and disinfect the wound to avoid getting and spreading infection.
Treatment solution
You can treat a wound formed on a tree with one of the following solutions:
· A solution of copper sulfate (per liter of water 50 g.);
A solution of ferrous sulfate (per liter of water 30 g.)
· Saturated solution of potassium permanganate.
Closing event
Since trees are prone to diseases after pruning, I always process them with Bordeaux mixture, which I prepare myself. To do this, I dissolve 30 grams of copper sulfate in three liters of water.
Separately, in three liters of water, I dilute 30 grams of lime and combine both obtained solutions. As a result, you should get a blue solution, which should be sprayed on the tree.
Observing all the recommendations, you can quickly and painlessly cut down its large branches for a tree, if necessary.
