But what if someone does not have time, does not even have the necessary tool for its manufacture, but such an apparatus is very necessary. For example, remove rust in hard-to-reach areas of a part before painting. You can resort to the services of companies who are engaged in this. Take to them. Fast and efficient because the equipment is professional. But the cost of the service may be more than the cost of the part. It is expensive to buy a professional sandblaster of good performance. Additionally, you still need a compressor (you can buy it in any case). Here are the prices of such devices:

There are online shops in China that sell small gravity-fed sandblasting guns.

In Russian stores of garage tools, a sandblasting gun can also be found. For example, here- but with a bottom feed (suction of sand from any container). It may be a little more expensive than in China, but you don't need to wait a month for delivery.

For a sandblasting gun, of course, an air compressor (not a car) is needed. More on this below.

After reviewing several video reviews about these inexpensive sandblasting guns, I realized the following:

The performance of the gun is extremely low, only suitable for cleaning small parts. The sand needs to be sieved. The nozzles are a consumable. There are ceramic ones on sale, but it is not known whether they will fit. Sand from work flies in all directions. You either need a camera for the processing process, or do it outdoors. This is problematic in winter. Sand is consumed quickly (main consumable). In the chamber, it can be collected and reused.

But what if you are processing a large part or part of a car body, for example?

In the process of searching, I came across an option that can be purchased in Russian stores and online stores, the cost is even lower than in China, and the functionality and efficiency in work are superior. These are models of sandblasting guns with an abrasive collection and recirculation system. In simple words - no sand consumption! How is this possible?

First model: Sandblasting gun Wester SSP-10

Aluminium case. Weight 1.4 kg. Sand tank with a volume of 0.75 liters. Powered by a compressor at a pressure of 2-4 atm. Includes 4 attachments. The cost on the third slide is 1398 rubles. Delivery from a warehouse in Russia, i.e. will arrive a few days in advance. Link to the store.

It works like this: when air is supplied, the abrasive (fine quartz sand) is sucked in from the metal container and through the nozzle performs the work to clean the surface. But the gun has a black rubber nozzle for a reason. It must be pressed against the surface of the part to be cleaned. In this case, only a place equal to the diameter of the nozzle is cleaned.

Due to this, the sand is not scattered in all directions (and is not consumed), but is sucked into a bag made of dense fabric that allows air to pass through. The sand is collected in a bag and can be used again. No dust, which is very important for closed spaces. You can work without a respirator.

Similar sandblasting guns - PRORAB 8048 and ROCKFORCE RF-2377. Only the color is different.

But even simpler and more functional is the sandblasting gun Voylet PS-10 or Russian Master PS-10 (differ only in the box). This tool is not just with a waste sand collection system - it is with sand recirculation:

Weight - only 0.6 kg. Work from air pressure: 4-8 atm. It works like this: fine sand, poured into a bag of dense fabric, is installed on the gun. The necessary nozzle is put on, which is pressed against the surface to be treated. The air passing through the tube in the bag captures the abrasive and performs cleaning. Further, inside the nozzle, the sand is sucked back into the bag, being carried away by the air flow. The air passes through the fabric, and the sand remains in it.

The attachments allow you to handle difficult and awkward surfaces: corners (as in the fourth photo), angled and narrow flat surfaces. The set includes a mold, with different sizes of holes. There is also an edentechnical pistol from the Russian master company. It is even cheaper, but not always available.

In my opinion, this is an ideal solution for a small garage-type car service, where there are no separate rooms for sandblasting. Sometimes a localized rust stain is required on a car. This sandblasting gun is ideal for these tasks.

Cleaning example. To clean the entire surface, you will have to press and move the nozzle. And on the edges - use a different nozzle (for the outer corners).

Well, about the compressor. Here, of course, everyone decides for himself what performance and brand this unit is needed. Often a small compressor with a capacity of 25 liters, 1.5 kW and pressures up to 8 bar is sufficient. Less capacity is not needed, it will often turn on. Oil ones make less noise.

A compressor in a garage car service is also needed for a pneumatic wrench, for cleaning (blowing out) nets (filters), cleaning other parts from dust and dirt, for pumping tires.
